Apprentice Fabricator

90 days contract

$20-$23 p/hour

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Know and understand Edge products, processes, and standards
  • Build working relationships with shop staff, engineering, and purchasing departments
  • Review and understand the chain of command
  • Follow the production shop safety program at all times
  • Complete Edge certification program for tools: table saw, panel saw, shaper, jointer, planer, miter saw, and basic hand tools
  • Become proficient in Innergy — time tracking, workflow Kanban, and labor hours
  • Execute cut list Work Orders as directed
  • Conduct Work Order “Page Turns” with Plant Manager/Shop Foreman to understand items produced, shipment items, materials, and labor hours
  • Formulate a production game plan prior to starting each Work Order; review with Plant Manager/Shop Foreman before production begins
  • Follow Edge Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes consistently
  • Palletize, label, and stage product for shipment per Edge protocol
  • Practice LEAN building procedures and 5S methodology (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
  • Assist other departments as directed by Plant Manager/Shop Foreman
  • Communicate setbacks immediately and present action plans to get back on track
Requirements:
  • Desire to learn commercial architectural millwork and finish carpentry
  • Basic familiarity with handheld woodworking tools
  • Solid math aptitude and tape measure proficiency
  • Ability to follow instructions and manage assigned tasks
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to adhere to company schedule
  • Must be 18 or older

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
