Job Description
IT Apprentice (6-Month Program, Full-Time Conversion Opportunity) – Goode Company
We’re looking for an IT Apprentice to join our lean, high-impact technology team supporting restaurant and corporate operations across Houston.
This is not a sit-at-a-desk apprenticeship.
You’ll be in the field daily; troubleshooting real issues in real time, supporting restaurant teams, installing hardware, and helping keep mission-critical systems running. You’ll work directly with leadership and gain hands-on exposure to everything from networking and POS systems to device management and automation.
If you’re someone who enjoys solving problems, working with people, and figuring things out on the fly, you’ll get more real-world experience here in 6 months than most internships offer in years.
What You’ll Do
- Provide first-line IT support across restaurants and the home office
- Troubleshoot and support Toast POS systems and end users
- Travel to locations daily to resolve on-site issues and perform installations
- Assist with network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, access points) including basic configuration and monitoring
- Set up and maintain printers, workstations, tablets, and other hardware
- Participate in installations and deployments (POS terminals, cabling, network equipment, etc.)
- Own and resolve tickets when possible; escalate more complex issues as needed
- Work closely with senior team members while documenting processes and improving systems
What You’ll Learn
- Hands-on experience supporting a multi-location business in a fast-paced environment
- Exposure to enterprise tools and systems, including Microsoft 365, Intune, networking platforms, and modern SaaS applications
- Real-world troubleshooting across hardware, software, networking, and end-user support
- Fundamentals of device management, automation, and system provisioning
- How to operate effectively in a small, high-performing IT team where your work directly impacts the business
Technical Environment
You’ll gain exposure to:
- Toast POS, 7shifts, Tripleseat, Shopify, PowerApps
- Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), SSO/SCIM
- Ubiquiti, Meraki, SonicWall networking equipment
- Windows, macOS, and iOS (iPads) environments
- Automation tools and modern development platforms (e.g., GitHub, AI-assisted tools)
What We’re Looking For
We care far more about how you work than what you already know.
Must-haves:
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Highly reliable with excellent time management
- Problem-solver with a solution-oriented mindset
- Willingness to ask questions and learn quickly
- Takes pride in doing things the right way
Nice-to-haves (not required):
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, or project coordination
- Any exposure to IT, networking, or systems
- Interest in technology, operations, or automation
Work Environment & Requirements
- Daily travel to multiple Houston-area locations
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks
- Comfortable working in varied environments (including kitchens, tight spaces, etc.)
- May involve after-hours or occasional weekend work for deployments or urgent issues
Why This Role
- Direct exposure to leadership (reporting to Director of Technology)
- Work on meaningful, real-world problems—not busywork
- Learn across IT support, networking, systems, and automation
- Be part of a small, highly capable team where your contributions matter
- Opportunity to convert to a full-time role based on performance
Benefits:
- Medical membership with preventive and diagnostic coverage during the first year (part-time)
- Access to wellness resources and support services
- Eligibility for full medical benefits after 12 months of consistent full-time hours.
- Food Discounts
- Weekly Payroll
- Base Pay Rate
