The Print-on-Demand (POD) Operations Manager oversees daily production workflows for custom-printed artwork, ensuring premium quality, efficient order processing, and world-class fulfillment. This role bridges technology, manufacturing, and customer needs to deliver the precision and craftsmanship Marco Fine Arts is known for.
Key Responsibilities
- POD Production & Fulfillment Management
- Manage daily/ weeklyprint-on-demand operations across fine art reproduction (giclee printing), canvas wraps, framing, acrylics, metal prints, and other décor categories.
- Manage the daily/ weekly garmentprint-on-demand operations across different platforms.
- Oversee the full production lifecycle: order intake, artwork prep, print queue, finishing, inspection, packaging, and shipping.
- Coordinate POD workflows between e-commerce integrations and internal production systems.
- Supplier, Vendor & Equipment Oversight
- Partner with suppliers of inks, substrates, frames, packaging materials, and large-format printing equipment.
- Monitor machine performance (e.g., Epson, Canon,HPlarge-format printers) and coordinate maintenance schedules to ensure up time.
- Quality Assurance & Art Standards
- Enforce strict QC protocols for color profiles, materials, finishing processes, and final product inspection.
- Troubleshoot print defects, color mismatches, material issues, or workflow inconsistencies.
- Maintain production standards to align with client expectations
- Workflow Optimization & Automation
- Continuously improve productionefficiencies, labor capacity, and order prioritization.
- Collaborate with IT, Development,and Production teams to automate tasks, reduce manual touches, andoptimizeprint queues.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, increase throughput, and elevate consistency.
- Inventory & Supply Chain
- Oversee the inventory team and plan regular cycle counts
- Collaborate with purchasing tomaintainoptimalstock levels and control costs.
- Implement inventory tracking systems to reduce waste and prevent shortages.
- Data, Metrics & Reporting
- Track key operational KPIs: turnaround time, reprint rates, scrap rates, cost per unit, equipment downtime, and productivity.
- Provide weekly and monthly reporting to operations leadership, along with insights and recommendations.
- Forecast labor needs and production capacity for seasonal spikes, promotions, and new customer segments.
- Cross-Functional & Client Collaboration
- Work with customer service to resolve order issues, special client requests, or escalations.
- Collaborate with design, color specialists, and prepress teams to ensure artwork files meet production standards.
- Support enterprise clients, artists, and partners by translating their needs into efficient production workflows
- Team Leadership & Training
- Lead and mentor POD production staff, including print operators, finishers, and fulfillment teams.
- Develop SOPs, training modules, and performance standards for all POD-related processes.
- Foster a culture of craftsmanship, accuracy, and operational excellence.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to work flexible shifts, overtime, or on-call as needed.
