Definition: The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for managing, receiving, storing, and distributing materials while maintaining accurate inventory records. Also, ensuring the smooth operation of hospital departments by providing necessary supplies in a timely manner
Distinguishing Characteristics: The Storeroom Clerk must have strong organizational skills and math skills, attention to detail, and computer proficiency. Storeroom Clerk must be able to communicate effectively with hospital staff. Storeroom clerk reports to the Materials Manager and have no direct reports.
Essential Functions: (Performance of these functions is the reason the job exists. Assigned jobs/duties are not limited to the essential functions).
- Inventory Management: Maintain Accurate inventory records
- Requisition and Ordering: Process requisitions, placing orders with vendors and verifying incoming shipments
- Record Keeping: Maintaining records of all inventory transactions, including receipts, requisitions, and inventory levels
- Supply Distribution: Distributing supplies to various departments within the hospital
- Communication: Responding to inquiries from staff, providing information about inventory availability, and communicating with vendors
- Other Duties: May include assisting with other clerical tasks or projects as needed

- Hospital supplies and equipment.

- Receiving materials
- Shipping companies and process

Working Conditions:
The Storeroom Clerk works in the hospital or clinic setting. The role may require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday shifts. Interaction with patients, visitors, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds occurs throughout the day. The clerk will be exposed to confidential and sensitive information and will collaborate with various departments within the hospital including clinical staff, billing, and administration. Position may occasionally encounter situations with potentially infectious material; additionally, position occasionally experiences potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Usage of protective equipment and safety precautions for brief or extended periods of time may be required.

Experience and Training:
Any combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A typical way to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is:
- High School diploma or GED
- One year of storeroom experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred, but not required
