About the Position:
Sceye is seeking a full-time Mission Operations Specialist – Ground Systems to support the development, operation, and sustainment of mission critical ground systems that enable safe and reliable High Altitude Platform System (HAPS) operations.
This role is designed to support the Mission Operations Team by providing hands on operational support across ground system setup, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting. The position blends aviation operations, technical systems work, and mission execution, ideal for someone with an aviation background who enjoys working closely with operational flight systems and live missions.
The Mission Operations Specialist – Ground Systems will be multi functional across Mission Operations, with a primary depth in ground systems and a secondary ability to support mission planning, live mission operations, test execution, and post mission analysis.
- Support setup, configuration, and sustainment of ground systems used for flight testing and live missions
- Assist in operating ground systems and Operator consoles during live missions, including monitoring telemetry, systems health and behavior, and data preservation/integrity
- Identify, document, and assist with troubleshooting anomalies during testing and live mission operations
- Support ground systems readiness checks before flight tests and live missions
- Execute test procedures for ground systems hardware and software
- Assist with scripted or semi-automated test activities and data analysis
- Help validate new User Interface features, configurations, and/or system changes prior to operational use
- Assist with testing documentation to include anomaly identification, root cause, resolution, and lessons learned for Engineering and Operations teams
- Run and maintain existing Python or shell scripts used for testing, monitoring, and/or data processing
- Author/modify simple scripts under guidance to support test execution and/or operational workflows
- Assist with data extraction, review, and post-processing
- Help identify repetitive operational tasks that may benefit from automation
- Perform basic systems administration tasks on Linux-based ground systems
- Assist with networking setup and verification for distributed ground systems
- Help ensure ground systems are configured, documented, and ready for deployment and/or live missions
- Support mission planning and readiness activities as required
- Perform console operations during flight tests and live missions
- Participate in post-mission debriefs and lessons learned activities and resolution
- Provide surge support to other Mission Operations functions as operational tempo requires
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong desire to learn from System SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) across vehicle design, software, power systems, and RF (radio frequency) links
- Ability to distill complex technical discussions into clear, actionable tasks for the Mission Operations team
- Experience with or a high aptitude for learning Google Earth and Team Awareness Kit
- Willingness to take ownership and drive continuous improvements

Required Qualifications:
- Willingness to be multi-functional across Mission Operations
- Familiarity with Linux-based operating systems and command-line environments
- Hands-on experience with operational systems (ground systems, avionics, IT systems, etc.)
- Basic scripting skills/experience (Python preferred) or demonstrated ability to learn very quickly
- Strong troubleshooting mindset/skills and ability to follow technical procedures
- Demonstrated success planning, executing, and closing out integrated ground operations
- Positive, adaptable, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving across multi-disciplinary teams
- Comfortable working in fast-paced and austere environments where safety, discipline, and attention to detail matter
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in aerospace or physical science
- Exposure to RF systems or Software-Defined Radios (SDR)
- Experience supporting ground/flight testing and operations
- Hands-on experience with HAPS, UAVs, or large-scale flight operations
- Experience working with telemetry, ground control systems, or real-time data monitoring
- Prior military, UAV, or flight test operations background
