This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the engineering vision, execution, and operational excellence behind mission-critical fundraising and payments platforms that support thousands of nonprofit organizations. The Vice President, Engineering will lead distributed teams building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems that power online giving, donation processing, and donor engagement experiences. This role sits at the intersection of platform reliability and rapid innovation, balancing PCI-compliant payment infrastructure with AI-driven product advancement. You will play a key role in shaping the adoption of AI-native development practices across engineering teams to accelerate delivery and improve product quality. Working closely with product, security, QA, and operations leaders, you will ensure alignment between technical execution and business outcomes. - Lead and scale a multi-domain engineering organization responsible for fundraising platforms and payment processing systems, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across all services.
- Own the technical strategy and execution for both legacy and modern architectures, including PHP/React applications and .NET Core/AWS-based payment services.
- Ensure operational excellence for payment systems, including transaction reliability, PCI compliance, security standards, and seamless donor experiences.
- Drive AI-native transformation across engineering teams by championing adoption of AI tools, agentic workflows, and intelligent development practices to improve productivity and delivery speed.
- Partner with product leadership to define and deliver AI-powered fundraising capabilities, including predictive insights, automation, and donor engagement enhancements.
- Establish engineering roadmaps that balance platform stability, compliance requirements, and rapid innovation across product lines.
- Build, mentor, and scale engineering leaders while fostering a culture of high performance, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with security, QA, and operations teams to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant system delivery.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 10+ years in senior engineering leadership roles within high-growth environments.
- Proven experience leading large-scale engineering organizations (30+ engineers) across multiple products or domains.
- Strong background in payment systems, financial transactions, or fundraising/donation platforms with PCI-DSS compliance experience.
- Deep technical expertise in PHP, .NET Core, React, and AWS cloud infrastructure, with ability to guide architectural decisions across heterogeneous systems.
- Demonstrated success driving AI adoption in engineering workflows, including AI-assisted development tools and measurable productivity improvements.
- Experience leading DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native delivery practices in complex, high-availability environments.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate strategically while engaging directly in technical problem-solving when needed.
- Competitive salary range: $183,800 – $306,300 annually
