Position Description:
Summary of Job Description

The Duct Mechanic at Irvine Mechanical is responsible for the installation and maintenance of ductwork for HVAC systems. This role involves working as part of a team to ensure all duct systems are installed according to specifications while maintaining high standards of safety and quality on the job site.

Essential Duties, Roles & Responsibilities
  1. Install and maintain HVAC ductwork in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  2. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine layout and installation requirements.
  3. Ensure all ductwork is installed according to project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
  4. Measure, cut, assemble, and install duct systems using appropriate tools and equipment.
  5. Assist with inspections of ductwork installations to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
  6. Work collaboratively with other trades and team members to support efficient project completion.
  7. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time sheets and material usage as required.
  8. Identify and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors.
  9. Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe; ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  10. Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.


Position Requirements:
Qualifications, Education & Training
  1. High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in HVAC or a related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in ductwork installation.
  3. Basic knowledge of HVAC duct systems, installation techniques, and safety regulations.
  4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents.
Skills & Abilities
  1. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  2. Proficiency in using hand and power tools for ductwork installation.
  3. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  4. Good communication skills.
  5. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  6. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
