About This Position

Director of Software Development

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Software Development in United States.

This leadership role combines hands-on engineering expertise with strategic technical direction, driving the design and delivery of next-generation software products in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. You will guide a small but high-impact development team, shaping both architecture and engineering practices while ensuring predictable, scalable, and high-quality software delivery. The role requires a strong balance between coding contributions and leadership, particularly in establishing foundational systems, frameworks, and development standards. You will work closely with product and operations stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions. This position plays a key role in modernizing architecture, improving delivery efficiency, and strengthening engineering culture. It offers the opportunity to influence both product direction and long-term technology strategy within a collaborative and evolving organization.

Accountabilities:

Lead end-to-end software development efforts, ensuring high-quality delivery, scalable architecture, and strong alignment with business objectives.

  • Establish and continuously improve agile development processes, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and delivery tracking.
  • Define engineering standards, coding practices, review processes, and CI/CD integration to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Design and evolve scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures across frontend, backend, APIs, and databases.
  • Contribute directly to core codebase development, especially in architectural foundations and early-stage system design.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to enhance deployment pipelines, automation, and cloud infrastructure reliability.
  • Drive adoption of automated testing, QA frameworks, and performance optimization practices.
  • Partner with Product and Operations teams to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and execution plans.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in long-term technical planning, capacity forecasting, and evaluation of emerging technologies.

Requirements:
10+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 3+ years in a technical leadership role (Director, Tech Lead, or Architect).

  • Strong experience building full-stack web applications using modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) and backend technologies (.NET, Java, Python, Node.js, or similar).
  • Solid expertise in system architecture, database design (SQL and/or NoSQL), and scalable application development.
  • Proven track record implementing or improving Agile methodologies within small to mid-sized engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and deployment automation.
  • Strong understanding of software quality practices including automated testing, code reviews, and release management.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to bridge technical execution and business strategy.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative environments with cross-functional teams.
  • Nice to have: cloud experience (AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), observability tools, and test automation frameworks.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary aligned with experience and leadership level.
  • Opportunity to shape architecture, engineering culture, and product direction.
  • Flexible remote work environment within the United States.
  • Exposure to modern cloud, DevOps, and scalable software technologies.
  • Collaborative, fast-paced environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Strong career growth potential within a global software organization.
  • Access to a stable, well-established business group with a broad product ecosystem.
