Program Manager Property Claims

Summary
This position manages all first party property claims for wholly owned Texas Health entities including THPG, TH Rockwall and TH Flower Mound and assists the remaining managed joint ventures. The job responsibilities include the technical expertise to adjudicate all property claims within retention levels including evaluation, analysis, proof of loss preparation, expense review, negotiation with carriers and vendors, as well as the ability to assess the need for consultants to assist in evaluation of damages while balancing the cost benefit.
This position also includes the daily management of claims for auto, volunteer and pollution type claims, all of which require evaluation, analysis and communication with internal and external stakeholders to bring to a resolution. In addition, this position will manage the daily monitoring and assessment of a variety of underwriting and exposure data to include insurable values of buildings and physical assets, autos, drivers, MVR's, notaries, aviation, and underground/above ground storage tanks exposures.
Job Duties
Responsible for, with little to no supervision, leading the claims adjustment process for property damage/business interruption claims and specific general liability claims arising from property damage (owned or leased locations) as assigned by the litigation department within retention levels that are at minimum $1M per incident and can be up to $10M for damages resulting from hail. The responsibilities include guiding corporate and hospital management (includes all wholly owned entities, TH Frisco, TH Rockwall and TH Flower Mound) on best course of action to remediate and resolve losses. This includes conducting a thorough investigation, obtaining relevant documentation, identify coverage provisions and exclusions, contractual review for liability and waivers, identify physical damages and potential losses of income, retain consultants as needed to accurately assess the extent of the loss, establish and monitor claims reserves, work to resolve coverage issues within the terms of the policy, lead subrogation efforts, assist in negotiating timely claims settlement to obtain the broadest coverage for THR, and assist THR staff with loss control, mitigation, and salvage efforts. Work as the insurance liaison between THR stakeholders, the property carrier, vendors, and consultants on repairs, mitigation, coverage issues, and understanding general coverage terms afforded by the policy. This also includes management and maintenance of the property underwriting data for THR owned and leased property locations, including estimating insurable values for buildings, assets and betterments and improvements for leasehold interests.
Manage the daily activity of all property, auto, pollution, volunteer claims and specific general liability claims arising from property damage (owned or leased locations) as assigned by the litigation department. Determine applicable insurance coverage, investigate and evaluate each potential loss which may include site visits to various facilities and meeting with internal and or external stakeholders. Determine validity of claims and manage the process of all claim payments. Document all claim activity within the risk management system and accurately process payments, reimbursements, and seek subrogation accordingly. Report claims to insurance carriers as needed and manage claims with the carrier assuring broadest coverage is afforded to THR. Assure all documentation is accurate in risk management system and maintain data integrity. The duties apply to THR wholly owned entities, TH Frisco, TH Rockwall and TH Flower Mound. Also includes assisting other managed joint ventures such as TH Southlake and TH Diagnostics & Surgery in managing claims with the carrier.
Manage underwriting and exposure data for all drivers, MVR reports, autos, notaries, volunteers, and THR owned and leased locations. This includes frequent communication with internal stakeholders, documentation of confidential information, and accurately documenting results and reports. Accurate and timely processing of all related documentation with third parties when needed and internal departments for THR. On a smaller scale, exposure data for joint ventures may be required. Responsible to maintain the daily activity accurate in risk management system. Daily documentation tracking includes pollution/environmental reports, MVR authorizations, notary documentation, property leases.
Work with leadership in generating periodic presentations and reports regarding losses, frequency and severity analysis as required by various interested parties in order to recommend risk management control and prevention strategies. Be able to ascertain best course of action when corrections are required and know the processes needed to proceed with corrections/changes.
Work with and/or serve as liaison to local and state jurisdictions on THR coverage terms that require registration for security officers, storage tank registrations, boiler inspections, helipad landings, and other state/local mandated items required for securing insurance coverage.
Foster relationships with coworkers, broker, and outside vendors and consultants working as a team to assure seamless coverage for THR and at all times. Coordinates resources within THR as well as outside resources to facilitate any insurance related issues. Coordinate and work with other team members of the Risk Finance/Insurance Services Department to assure exposure data is communicated to team members in order to facilitate their ability to ensure coverage is appropriate with no lapse in coverage for property, workers compensation, general liability and all other applicable coverages. Must be able to understand organization structure and coverage placement structure.
Education
Bachelor's Degree Industrial Science, Engineering, Business, Financial or Insurance required
Experience
7 years managing and/or adjusting commercial property claims required
10 years managing and/or adjusting commercial property claims preferred
Licenses and Certifications
Licensed Property & Casualty Adjuster 90 Days preferred within 90 days of hire
Certified Insurance Service Representative preferred within 3 years of being hired preferred
Skills
Great verbal and written communication skills, self-motivated, organized, dependable and excellent judgment skills.
Well developed analytical skills, basic math skills, and a multi-tasker that can handle a variety of tasks and timelines within a changing environment.
Comfortable working in a database and a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Working knowledge of insurance coverage and familiar with interpreting policy language.
Travel Requirements
5% Site visits for property damage evaluations or review of mitigation or reconstruction efforts.
