ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Toffee Line Operator Trainee at Enstrom Candies is responsible for learning and mastering the Toffee Line Operator position (See Toffee Line Operator job description). The position requires all efforts required to MASTER all the toffee line production stages including the finished product stage. The position requires toffee line start up, continual operation, adjustments, preventative maintenance, clean up/sanitation, coil changeovers, boiler inspection, chilled water inspection, compressed air inspection, raw material ordering, troubleshooting, toffee line shutdown, system CIP, quality assurance, GMP compliance, chocolate supply, chocolate tempering, enrobing, candy cooling, and nut applicator operation. Auxiliary responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining a safe environment, metal detection, jar weight verification, and maintaining area cleanliness and sanitation.
Other duties to support the full range of activities of the company may include processing shipping labels, light maintenance duties, assisting other departments, preparation of other candy products, and other duties as assigned.
A Toffee Line Operator Trainee is qualified to become a Toffee Line Operator after their level of performance, knowledge, attitude and abilities have been reviewed and approved by the Toffee Line Operators, Toffee Line Supervisor, Production Manager, Director of Manufacturing and/or other management as deemed necessary. A trainee should understand that this position will take considerable time to master.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Toffee Line Process includes ensuring quality of toffee as it progresses down the line to the packing area, with pre-established guidelines. Includes but not limited to raw material quality, toffee quality, chocolate temper, piece weights, and piece dimensions, sensory and visual quality.
2. Start up, operation, coil change overs, shut down and CIP of entire system.
3. A very good working understanding of the engineering, maintenance and quality functions of the line.
4. Ordering raw materials as needed for efficient operation.
5. Preventive maintenance either in the form of Maintenance WOs or work performed by the operator.
6. Initiate emergency repairs as needed for efficient operation.
7. Communication with supervisor, lead, operators and others as needed to ensure efficient operation.
8. Active involvement in continued improvement in operation and quality.
9. Provide a positive example thru leadership qualities.
10. Ensuring a clean, sanitary and safe work environment.
11. Shared responsibility and participation in GMPs.
12. Shared responsibility of maintaining HACCP compliance.
13. Overtime as required.
14. Assist other departments as needed.
Requirements:POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum behavioral requirements: must work well within a team environment; must maintain a positive attitude on the job, must arrive at work station as scheduled, stay at work station as assigned and attend work as scheduled including overtime as needed.
2. Minimum Physical requirements: stand for the majority of the day, use repeated wrist motions without distress, high level of manual dexterity required; lift and carry up to 55 lbs; bend, stoop, climb ladders and kneel; push approximately 500 lbs on carts; follow directions and safety procedures;
3. Tools, Equipment and Machinery used: Toffee line, thermometers, tempering units, chocolate pumps, enrobers, metal detectors, conveyors, boilers, compressors, chilled water, pumps, scales, laser, box cutter, pallet jack, lid sealing machine and others as required.
4. Risk of Assault or Injury: Moderate; must follow safety procedures.
