About This Position
The Quality Inspector is responsible for quality inspection of product and material including (but not limited to) incoming material inspection, in process inspection, final inspection & returned material inspection. They are also responsible for maintaining the quality hold area.
Departmental Essential Functions:
1. Uses precision measurement instruments to determine mechanical dimensioning ex. micrometers and digital calipers.
2. Evaluates products and validates or indicates deviations from existing standards. Responsible for determining acceptability of quality of product.
3. Perform Receiving Inspections, In-Process Inspection, and Final Inspections to provide approval/disapproval for product shipment.
Organizational Essential Functions:
1. Follows all company procedures, policies, work instructions, and safety program. Actively ensures all aspects of compliance with AS9100.
2. Maintains current knowledge of all the safety risks in the workplace.
3. Completes necessary reports/paperwork.
4. Ability to learn quickly with willingness to cross train.
5. Utilizes all PPE as needed/assigned for particular job or job duty assigned.
6. Performs routine maintenance duties to ensure that the work areas are neat, clean and orderly at all times.
7. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Will be required to cross-train as back up in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
8. Attends required or assigned staff development sessions.
9. Participates in formal and informal continuous improvement efforts.
10. Promotes continuous improvement suggestions to appropriate area of responsibility for consideration and feedback.
11. Reports all unsafe equipment or hazards to the appropriate lead/manager.
Qualifications:
1. Technical school, High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Two-four years Quality experience in production.
3. Experience with dimensional measuring equipment.
4. Basic mathematical skills as related to the position.
5. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently in all aspects of position.
7. Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills.
8. Ability to use standard keyboard and to work with a computer, software (ex. Windows, Excel – programming simple formulas), monitor, and screen.
9. Experience in manufacturing environment.
10. Ability to understand BSF processes.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand/sit for a minimum of 10 hours (per workday).
Ability to work under time pressure for 10 hours (per workday).
Ability to work rapidly for 2-hour blocks of time within the workday.
Ability to work in varying degrees of hot/cold temperatures.
Ability to squat, bend, twist, turn, and lift.
Ability to continuously lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. And occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
