We are seeking an experienced Lead Medspa Aesthetician/Laser Technician to join our team at Coachlight Clinic at our Ankeny, IA location! The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience and an existing client base. The Lead Aesthetician will ensure exceptional patient experiences, promote long-term patient retention, and support the growth of the aesthetic practice through advanced clinical expertise, product knowledge, and strategic cross-selling. In addition to hands-on treatments, the lead will provide mentorship, guidance, and operational support to ensure consistency, compliance, and clinical excellence across all aesthetic services.


The Lead Medspa Aesthetician/Laser Technician will be responsible for the delivery of elective skin care services (including lasers, skin tightening, microneedling, facials and CoolSculpting) – while serving as a clinical leader within the aesthetic team and working under the supervision of Dr. Robbins. Other responsibilities include patient education on treatment plans. Ensuring patient satisfaction, product recommendation, and retention.

Full Time

Mon, Tues, Fri - 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Wed - 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Thurs - 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Education and Experience:

  • 8-10 years experience working as a laser technician and medical aesthetician.
  • Must have an existing clientele base.
  • Prior experience in a lead, senior, or mentorship capacity strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma; college degree a plus.
  • Licensed Iowa Aesthetician.
  • RN license in the state of Iowa a plus.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have experience with medical grade facials, and skin care.
  • Possesses wide-ranging knowledge of skin care treatments, elective/aesthetic services and products. This includes products/services which are sold in the office and a general knowledge of other products/services not offered. The benefit is to be able to answer questions patients might have about benefits/differences between products/services. (i.e. medical grade vs. nonmedical grade or CoolSculpting vs EmSculpt)
  • Substantial knowledge of medical office procedures and terminology.
  • Appropriate telephone etiquette and excellent communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Obtains patient signatures on appropriate forms.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Well-organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Treats patients and co-workers with respect.
  • Empathetic with patient’s needs and concerns.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the clinical lead for aesthetic services, ensuring consistency, safety, and quality of all treatments.
  • Provides patients with complimentary consultations including nonsurgical and skin care consultations.
  • Provides patients with instructions and educational materials that relate to their unique skin type and recommend adjustments to their skincare regimen as appropriate.
  • Determines patient skin care goals and objectives; recommends products and services that can reasonably facilitate attainment of those goals.
  • Seeks advice and supervision of physician as required on treatment protocols and notifies the physician of any patient noncompliance/issues.
  • Responsible for the coordination of any correspondence to patients regarding their skin care treatment plan, product usage, or home care instructions.
  • Maintains patient medical records includes consultation discussions, detailing all treatment procedures, elective products, medication history, email and phone communications and educational materials received. All documentation must be completed within 48 hours of patient’s appointment.
  • Performs treatments according to patient skin type, based on education and type of machine using to performing the treatment. Must be fulling trained on machine before treating paying patient.
  • Works diligently to build new clientele and keep existing clientele coming back.
  • Follows the Employee Manual Policy book and all HIPAA compliance requirements.
  • Maintains treatment rooms and work areas in compliance with OSHA standards.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Monitors equipment to ensure proper operation and maintains said equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Participates and attends in-service educational programs, staff meetings, office events/seminars, community events representing the clinic.
  • Tracks referral sources, sends thank-you letters to the source and existing patients as ways to build clientele and make the patient and the referral feel special. Use referral cards and promote discount/cross-selling opportunities to new and existing patients.
  • Requests and stocks inventory and supplies as needed for maintaining treatment rooms and retail areas.
  • Maintain a valid aesthetician or registered nursing license in accordance with state regulations.
  • Shares cleaning duties with the team and general duties as assigned.
