About This Position
Description:
Under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse, the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) performs direct resident care duties within the scope of their professional certification and assist in maintain a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including eating, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and changing bed linens.
- Transfer and reposition residents safely to and from beds, chairs, and other areas.
- Support and participate in resident activity programs.
- Prepare residents for meals and snacks, assist with feeding as needed, and accurately record food and fluid intake.
- Follow daily care plans; perform assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures; monitor and report changes in resident condition to the charge nurse; document care on resident records and flow sheets; and report accidents or incidents promptly.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation policies and promptly report injuries or violations to a supervisor.
- Understand, comply with, and promote all regulations and policies regarding resident rights, and encourage peer compliance.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and regulatory representatives while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Fully trained and capable of serving as a Transportation Aide.
- Participate in training, educational activities, staff meetings, and orientation of new peers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must hold current state certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in good standing with the state.
- Must be able to interact positively with residents, families, and regulatory agencies, and work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
- Must be able to maintain consistent attendance and be willing to work long or irregular hours, often under pressure.
- Must comply with all local health regulations and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the use of mechanical devices):
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and community agencies.
- Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, reaching, bending, stretching, pulling, and lifting.
- Adequate fine and gross motor coordination to carry out required tasks.
Work Environment:
- Long-term care facility setting.
- Exposure to residents with varying levels of care needs.
- May include evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
