EKG TECHNICIAN at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center – Tampa, Florida

The EKG technician will be responsible for performing cardiac diagnostic testing. Additional responsibilities are required, such as maintaining test equipment, communicating with the cardiology team, ordering supplies, and completing associated daily clerical duties. They will serve as an ambassador for the department as well as the Center by demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.

Minimum requirements:

1. High school diploma/GED
2. BLS certification
3. Requires a minimum of 1 year experience in the performance of direct patient care.
4. Cardiac tech (preferred but not required)

Essential Functions:

• Performs cardiac diagnostic testing.

• Performs basic EKG tests and rhythm strips on inpatients and outpatients. Responds to all code blue calls and performs cardiac diagnostic testing as requested. Prioritizes workload as appropriate. Greets and introduces
  
• Maintains testing equipment.
• First line to troubleshoot any EKG equipment issues. Removes any EKG equipment from service if unable to troubleshoot. Notifies manager and BioMed or IT, depending on the issue. Cleans and disinfects equipment between every patient AND when soiled.
• Identifies critical results promptly and notifies the appropriate cardiology team member per policy. Documents required information of critical results call to cardiology team on EKG charge ticket.
• Demonstrates sound technical skills in operating all equipment and in obtaining the best tracings. Reviews tracings for completeness and quality.
