About This Position
Job Summary:
The Full-Time Food Bank Driving Associate is responsible for ensuring safe, timely, and accurate transportation of food products for the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. This role supports pantry partners and retail rescue operations by delivering food orders, picking up donations, and maintaining vehicle cleanliness. The driver represents Mercer Street Friends professionally and adheres to all safety and regulatory requirements. This position requires completion of a DOT Physical Exam (to obtain an active DO Medical Certificate) and successful completion of a drug test.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Deliver food orders to pantry partners according to schedulePick up donations from retail rescue partners promptly and accuratelyPerform daily vehicle inspections and maintain interior/exterior cleanlinessReport maintenance needs, safety concerns, or incidents immediatelyEnsure accurate documentation for deliveries and pickupsFollow all traffic laws and organizational safety protocolsProvide courteous and professional services to agencies, donors, and community partners.Assist with light warehouse support when needed, including loading/unloadingMinimum Qualifications & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredValid non-CDL driver's license with a clean driving record1+ year of experience in delivery, transportation, or warehouse operations preferred.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying temperatures including cooler/freezer environmentsStrong organizational and communication skillsCommitment to Quaker values and cultural sensitivity.Skills & Abilities:Reliable, punctual, and detail-orientedAbility to work independently and as part of a teamComfortable driving in urban and rural areasStrong customer service skills when interacting with partners and donors.Physical & Mental Demands:75% driving, 25% loading/unloadingFrequent lifting, bending, and reachingExposure to varying temperatures including cooler/freezer environmentsAbility to sit and drive for extended periodsHazards:Category III Non-HazardousEquipment Used:Company truckElectric pallet jackManual pallet jackHand truckGPSPhoneScan to Apply
