The Synergy Company is seeking an R&D Assistant to support our product development team. You’ll help move new formulations from concept to reality by supporting benchtop trials, preparing and tracking samples, maintaining a clean and organized lab environment, and ensuring the documentation behind our work is thorough, clear, and reliable.

What You’ll Do
R&D Lab Support & Benchtop Trials
- Assist with formulation support and benchtop trials (powders, capsules, tablets, etc.) under the guidance of the R&D Manager
- Prepare prototypes and maintain accurate sample inventory and tracking
- Support stability/compatibility checks and basic evaluations of raw materials and prototypes
Sample Preparation, Tracking & Documentation
- Prepare, label, log, and route samples for internal testing and evaluation
- Maintain organized project files and documentation that support traceability and decision-making
- Collect and manage product/ingredient documentation (specs, COAs, supplier documents, etc.)
- Help ensure development work is recorded clearly and consistently so it’s usable across teams (Quality, Regulatory, Production)
Lab Organization & Process Discipline
- Keep the lab, sample library, and workspaces clean, organized, and [KS1] ready for exploration
- Follow SOPs and safety protocols with consistency and care
- Support process improvements that make lab workflows more reliable and repeatable
Cross-Functional Support (Production + Quality/Regulatory)
- Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Production as needed to support pilot runs, troubleshooting, and documentation readiness
- Step into production-adjacent work when necessary to support scale-up and execution
Sensory Evaluation
- Participate in sensory evaluation (taste/smell/visual) when needed, including following protocols that may require ingesting products
What You Bring
Required
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (tracking, documentation, accuracy-focused work)
- A high standard for detail, accuracy, and organization - you double-check because you care
- Ability to work independently for stretches of time while staying aligned with team priorities
- Comfort shifting between task types (computer-heavy days, lab-heavy days, and occasional production support)
- Willingness to follow SOPs, maintain cleanliness standards, and use PPE as needed
- Ability to lift up to ~50 lbs and perform physical tasks typical of lab and production-adjacent work
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience in a lab environment, product development, food/supplements manufacturing, or quality documentation
- Familiarity with cGMP/regulated environments (or strong comfort working under strict procedures)
- Coursework or degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
- Experience with tracking systems or databases (FileMaker, LIMS, ERP, SharePoint lists, etc.)
