GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides exceptional customer service at the front desk of clinic. Responsible for greeting the public, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, maintaining medical records, processing patients at admission and discharge, and performing clerical duties as assigned.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
- Maintain the receptionist and waiting area.
- Schedule/re-schedule new and follow up appointments.
- Accurately and confidentially maintain patient records, ensuring protection of HIPAA information.
- Receive and route all incoming telephone calls; making and verifying appointments as required.
- Enter data into patient registration system to include updating patients’ records i.e.: change in demographics, insurance information and financial status.
- Print route slips for all patient encounters.
- Request for medical reports from referring facilities as required.
- Accepts responsibility of patient rights.
- Maintains and assures patient confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as needed or required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Long periods of setting, reaching, bending, standing
- Use of back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired
- Repeat of same hand and arm movements
- Use their hands to handle, control, or work with objects, tools, or controls
- Use of fingers to grasp and move.
- Carry/lift up to 30 pounds
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Subject to high volume of people from different cultures
- Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
- Pressure due to multiple calls and inquires
- Pressure due to high volume/noise
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in health care business office setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years’ experience in health care business office setting
- 1 year course in business and/or finance
- Excellent communications skills
