Are you a hands-on maintenance professional who knows how to keep a facility running safely, smoothly, and efficiently? B-K Lighting is looking for a Facilities Maintenance & Safety Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and safety needs of our manufacturing facilities.

In this role, you’ll work independently to inspect building systems, respond to maintenance work orders, complete preventative maintenance, and address facility-related safety issues. This position is perfect for someone who is highly organized, safety-minded, and confident working across multiple building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC support, and general repairs).

What You’ll Do:
  • Perform routine inspections of the manufacturing building to identify safety hazards, equipment issues, and maintenance needs
  • Respond to and complete maintenance work orders related to:
    • Plumbing repairs (leaks, clogged drains, fixtures)
    • Electrical issues (lighting, switches, outlets)
    • HVAC support (filter changes, thermostat checks, basic troubleshooting) and coordinate with vendors for major issues
    • Doors, locks, hardware, ceilings, walls, and flooring repair
  • Use hand and power tools to complete repairs safely and efficiently
  • Perform minor carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and equipment mounting as needed
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks on building systems and equipment
  • Inspect, lubricate, adjust, and replace components to prevent equipment failure
  • Consult with third-party vendors as needed—especially for CNC machine-related issues
  • Document completed maintenance activities and report recurring issues or concerns to your supervisor
  • Conduct facility-related safety procedures in coordination with HR, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct inspections and report unsafe conditions immediately
  • Assist with compliance related to OSHA, fire safety, and building codes
  • Communicate major building-related concerns to the Property Management company
  • Coordinate with and escort external contractors performing facility repairs and inspections
  • Assist with small facility improvement projects, equipment moves, or layout changes (and coordinate with third parties when needed)
  • Verify completed contractor work and report issues or deficiencies
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, safety records, and work order documentation (coordinating with supervisors and HR as needed)
  • Communicate repair status (down machines and timing), safety concerns, supply needs, and priorities to your supervisor

Requirements: What We’re Looking For:
  • Working knowledge of facility maintenance and building systems including:
    • Basic plumbing
    • Basic electrical
    • HVAC support
    • Carpentry and general repairs
  • Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs
  • Strong safety awareness, with the ability to identify, document, and respond to building and equipment hazards
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment
  • Comfortable operating or working with forklifts (training and certification provided onsite), ladders, rooftops, and aerial lift equipment
  • Ability to work safely at heights and in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Basic welding knowledge (hands-on experience preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including computerized maintenance and safety documentation
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to work independently while collaborating with a team
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, attention to detail, and adaptability in changing or high-priority situations
  • 1–3 years of facility, production, or maintenance mechanic experience preferred
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

This role includes exposure to loud noise, dust, varying temperatures, and other industrial conditions. Physical demands may include standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, and working at heights using ladders, aerial lifts, or scaffolding (often up to 30 feet).

PPE required includes safety glasses, closed-toe shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and other task-specific PPE. Respiratory protection (respirator) may be required depending on the task, materials, or environment.
