The Coil Cleaner supports BFC Solutions' Dedicated Division by performing hands-on preventive maintenance and cleaning of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. This role helps improve airflow, system efficiency, customer uptime, and overall service quality by keeping coils and related components clean, safe, and operating properly. This is a travel-based field role for someone who is comfortable working outdoors, living out of a suitcase during scheduled rotations, and being part of a small team that serves commercial customers in the field. Team members are paid weekly under a competitive commission-based pay model, with travel expenses and per diem provided in accordance with company policy.
What You Will DoIn this role, you will:
- Perform preventive maintenance and cleaning of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems to support performance, energy efficiency, and customer compliance expectations.
- Clean evaporator coils, condenser coils, blower assemblies, drain pans, and related components to improve airflow and system efficiency.
- Inspect HVAC units for dirt buildup, leaks, component wear, and other conditions that may require repair, replacement, or follow-up service.
- Remove, clean, and reinstall parts and components using hand tools such as drills and screwdrivers, ensuring equipment is returned to expected operating standards.
- Use appropriate cleaning agents, tools, equipment, and PPE to safely remove debris, buildup, and contaminants from HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Identify, document, and report system concerns, safety issues, service findings, and recommended follow-up actions during maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate service records, including work completed, site conditions, and reported issues.
- Communicate professionally with facility managers, commercial clients, customers, supervisors, and internal service teams.
- Coordinate with team members to complete routine cleanings efficiently and minimize operational downtime for customers.
- Read, understand, and follow customer SOPs, site requirements, company policies, OSHA protocols, and safety procedures.
The strongest candidates will be hands-on, safety-minded, professional with customers, and comfortable with extended travel and physically demanding field work.
Required
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and cleaning of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, facility maintenance, or similar equipment.
- Experience cleaning coils, blower assemblies, drain pans, or comparable mechanical components preferred for effective airflow and system performance.
- Working knowledge of inspecting HVAC units for dirt buildup, leaks, component wear, and potential repair or replacement needs.
- Proficiency using hand tools such as drills, screwdrivers, and related tools to remove and reinstall parts and components.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to report system issues during maintenance procedures.
- Ability to maintain accurate service records and clearly document work completed, findings, and reported concerns.
- Professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with internal teams, facility managers, and commercial clients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and complete work with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of OSHA safety protocols and commitment to following company, customer, and industry safety standards.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow customer SOPs and site-specific requirements.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extended time in heat and sun and willingness to work in rain when safe and appropriate.
- Ability to climb ladders and work/stand for 8+ hours during shifts.
- Ability and willingness to travel for extended field rotations, including a typical seven-week field assignment followed by one week home, and to share hotel accommodations with a coworker while assigned to travel.
Preferred
- Prior commercial HVAC, refrigeration, coil cleaning, preventive maintenance, or mechanical service experience.
- Knowledge of EPA refrigerant handling guidelines; certification is a plus but not required.
- Experience working on travel-based, route-based, or team-based field assignments.

This is a field-based role performed in commercial customer environments and outdoors. Essential work environment and physical requirements include:
- Work at commercial customer sites, including mechanical areas, rooftops, outdoor locations, and other field service environments.
- Comfort working outside in varying weather conditions, including extended time in heat and sun and willingness to work in rain when conditions are safe.
- Ability to climb ladders, stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, reach, handle tools, and work 8+ hours during assigned shifts.
- Use required PPE and follow OSHA protocols, company safety standards, and customer site requirements at all times.
- Travel-based schedule with teams generally assigned to seven weeks in the field followed by one week home; shared hotel accommodations with a coworker may be required.
- Work schedule may include nights, weekends, overtime, extended shifts, and travel outside normal business hours based on customer and business needs.
- Weekly pay through a competitive commission-based pay model, with travel expenses and per diem provided in accordance with company policy.
