About This Position
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Cultures at Assumption University seeks to hire one part-time adjunct instructor for the Fall 2026 semester to teach two or three sections of ITA 101 Italian I. Additionally, we anticipate the need for an instructor for two Italian language courses in Spring 2027. Classes are capped at 18 students, with consideration to over admit up to 2 students.
Class Meetings for Fall 2026:
- The semester begins on August 31 and ends on December 9.
- Final exams are scheduled from December 11 to December 16.
- Final grades are due on December 18.
Class Meetings for Spring 2027:
- The semester begins on January 19 and ends on May 3.
- Final exams are scheduled from May 5 to May 10.
- Grades are due on May 12 for seniors and May 14 for other students.
Adjuncts are welcomed as important contributors to the department and our students. They are provided with office space, email, voicemail, support for online teaching, and other resources needed for quality teaching. Successful candidates may have the possibility of teaching additional courses in subsequent semesters.

Requirements:- Applicants should have a master’s degree or PhD in Italian or a related field. ABD graduate students with prior teaching experience will also be considered.
