POSITION SUMMARY:

Cleveland Wheel and Brake Systems (CWBS) provides aircraft braking systems and key system components including wheels, brakes, and hydraulic components for the general aviation, turboprop, business jet, rotorcraft and military markets. For over 85 years, airplane manufacturers, landing gear manufacturers, mechanics and pilots have relied on the innovative and reliable Cleveland brand of products, making them one of the world’s most experienced, recognizable, and respected brands in the aircraft industry.

At Cleveland Wheel and Brake Systems, the Painter I is a member of the Production organization and is responsible for the operation of manually operated hand painting equipment as well as the automatic paint line for application of final finish to prescribed specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Prepare surfaces to be painted as required by work instructions, using spray guns, rollers, and brushes.

· Ensures the use of appropriate technical references and tools in performing paint duties.

· Perform cleaning and maintenance of all used painting equipment. Keep work areas clean and organized daily.

· Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by wearing proper safety equipment (e.g. – Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR)) and following procedures. Proactively identify and take corrective action to eliminate unsafe behaviors and conditions.

· Maintain established production rates at expected quality levels.

· Must demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

· Must demonstrate effective reasoning ability when communicating with internal customers.

· Train, share knowledge and assist other team members. Sets positive example for problem solving, conflict resolution, work ethic and dependability.

· Takes initiative to anticipate, identify and resolve product and/or team member issues.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0-1 year of related painting and coating applications and/or demonstrated ability.
  • U.S. Citizenship/Permanent Resident is required for this position.
  • Applied Math: Intermediate-level skills or demonstrated ability (Add, subtract, units of measure, multiply, divide, fractions, decimals).
  • Proficient in reading, understanding, and interpreting related forms and specifications.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.

TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to prepare and paint product surfaces. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
