About This Position
At The Green K9, by Pet and Home Care, our Pet Wellness & Sales Associates are the trusted face of our store — knowledgeable guides who help pet parents make confident choices for their animals' health and happiness. This is a sales-forward role built on genuine expertise. You won't just ring up purchases; you'll lead consultative conversations about pet nutrition, recommend the right food and supplements for each animal's unique needs, and build the kind of trust that keeps pet families coming back. If you love pets, love selling, and love learning, this is your role.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Nutrition Guidance
• Lead consultative sales conversations by asking the right questions — about the pet's age, breed, health history, and sensitivities — before recommending food, treats, supplements, or wellness products.
• Provide confident, accurate guidance on pet nutrition: protein sources, life stage feeding, limited-ingredient diets, raw and freeze-dried options, and common dietary sensitivities.
• Drive sales performance through thoughtful upselling and product add-ons that genuinely benefit the pet — not just the transaction.
• Stay current on product knowledge, nutritional trends, and new inventory through ongoing training and self-directed learning.
• Warmly welcome every pet parent and deliver personalized service that turns first-time visitors into loyal clients.
Grooming & Service Coordination
• Proactively encourage grooming rebookings at checkout — initiating the conversation rather than waiting for clients to ask.
• Check in clients efficiently for grooming, bathing, and daycare services.
• Assist groomers with scheduling future appointments and support seamless service handoffs across departments.
Operations & Store Presentation
• Manage all store systems accurately — including Etail Pet, Time to Pet, Daysmart, and Astro Loyalty — processing transactions and enrolling pet parents in our loyalty program.
• Maintain attractive, fully stocked, and organized retail displays aligned with promotional and seasonal changes.
• Uphold a clean, welcoming store environment and contribute to shared cleaning responsibilities.
• Communicate client feedback, product insights, and operational observations directly to the Store Manager.
Preferred Qualifications• Knowledge of pet nutrition fundamentals — protein sources, life stage feeding, limited-ingredient and specialty diets, and common dietary sensitivities. We provide ongoing training, but a head start here is a strong advantage.
• Demonstrated sales ability or genuine enthusiasm for selling — comfortable recommending products, upselling, and guiding customers to confident purchase decisions.
• Prior experience in specialty or independent pet retail is a plus (vs. big-box retail, which tends to be less consultative).
• Prior retail or customer service experience in any context.
• Genuine love of animals and the interpersonal warmth to connect naturally with pet parents.
• Comfort with technology, particularly POS systems and customer relationship tools.
• Professional, clear, and engaging communication skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
• Flexibility for varied shifts, including weekends.
Compensation & SchedulingThis position offers $16.00–$17.50 per hour, based on experience, with eligibility for annual performance-based increases. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available, requiring 6–8 hour shifts with Saturday availability.
