Assistant Cook - Full-time, days at Prairieview Lutheran Homes – Danforth, Illinois

Location: Danforth, IL 60930

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cooks Assistant to support our kitchen team in preparing and presenting high-quality meals for residents, families, and staff. This part-time position requires strong communication skills, dependability, and the ability to follow strict sanitation and food safety standards.

• Prepare and assist the cook in the preparation of breakfast and lunch meals.
• Prepare cold salads, hot/cold/raw meats, baking, and handle raw fruits and vegetables safely.
• Prepare and assist with salad bar presentation.
• Serve palatable and presentable hot and cold foods according to appropriate diets.
• Follow all proper cleaning and sanitation procedures, thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing personal work areas, equipment, and supplies.

• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff and management.
• Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented to maintain food quality and presentation standards.
• Ability to critically evaluate food quality and safety standards.
• Must hold or be willing to obtain a manager’s sanitation certification.

This position requires availability every other weekend and every other holiday, totaling approximately 16 hours per week during daytime hours.
