Supervisor Therapy

  • JOB SUMMARY
    • To serve as the therapy supervisor. Responsible for clinical standards of practice, therapy processes, policies and procedures, staff competencies, continuing education for staff, productivity, staffing, hiring and ongoing evaluation of therapy clinical associates.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • CLINICAL SKILLS
      • Assists in assuring the delivery of quality careFacilitates educational opportunities for all disciplines
      • Monitors use of a wide variety of techniques & technologies related to therapy
      • Assists in customizing treatment & communications to individual patient needs (IE cultural & cognitive)
      • Assists in plans for discharge appropriate to setting & circumstances in a timely manner (IE HEP, equipment, family teaching)
      • Develops professional discipline specific processes, policies and procedures
      • Provides clinical oversight, direction, and development of best practices
      • Develops a process to assess clinical competencies
    • DOCUMENTATION
      • Uses objective measurements appropriate to substantiate careFacilitates complete documentation on the date of service
      • Monitors and ensures that therapy Interventions selected match treatment delivered & meet regulatory standards (IE 3 hr. rule, 8 min. rule)
      • Monitors and ensures that documentation substantiates charges selected
      • Monitors and ensures documentation meets clinical policy & procedure guidelines (frequency, timeliness-weekly/monthly notes & discharge instructions)
      • Reviews staff documentation for compliance with policies and procedures.
    • TEAM EFFORT
      • Adheres to productivity standard
      • Efficiently & effectively schedules patients
      • Demonstrates flexibility to help others (IE adjusts work schedule to meet needs, assist others to cover patients)
      • Assists with Program development & involvement
      • Facilitates Staff & student development
      • Embraces change and promotes positive work environmentWorks with GS OP Pediatric Therapy delivery sites on continuity of care and transition policies as needed
    • MANAGEMENT
      • Directs, counsels and develops therapy staff (OT, COTA, PT, PTA, SLP, Rec Therapy, Therapy Aides) per GSRN policies and proceduresCompletion of Performance Development Plans (PDPs) for therapists
      • Assures adequate staffing to meet regulatory requirements & productivity standards
      • Manages productivity requirements of teamIdentifies & resolves daily operational issues related to therapy care deliveryAssists with completion of operational and FTE budgets for therapy
      • Controls expenses and works towards financial targets
      • Embraces and implements new processes and techniques
      • Assists with marketing programs and developing referrals.
    • COMPLIES WITH FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LEGAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
      • By understanding and adhering to current standards of, guide for professional conduct including the code of ethics and practice guidelines established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
      • By providing appropriate supervision to all therapy staff, assistants, therapy aides and students.
    • PROTECTS PATIENT INFORMATION AND CONFIDENTIALITY
      • By securing all information in confidential space, following facility confidentiality policy
    • SHARES PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
      • By implementing state-of-the-art practices; publishing trend-setting concepts in professional publications; establishing and overseeing staff development programs.
    • COMMUNICATES EFFECTIVELY
      • By delivering key messages from leadership to staffBy informing management of key issues that arise from staff
    • OVERSEES AND PARTICIPATES IN STUDENT, AIDE AND VOLUNTEER EDUCATION
      • Oversight of assigning students, aides and volunteers to staff, monitoring clinical experiences, providing written feedback to students and clinical institutions, developing ongoing clinical relationships with accredited institutions, providing and arranging educational experiences.

      • Education
        • Bachelor's Degree preferred
        • Master's Degree preferred
      • Work Experience
        • 3-5 years of clinical experience required
        • Prior supervisory experience required
      • Licenses / Certifications
        • Clinical license in PT, OT or SLP required
