Tax Senior Manager – Private Equity - Charlotte, NC
Who: A seasoned tax professional with 7+ years of public accounting experience specializing in passthrough entities and Subchapter K matters.
What: Lead complex tax consulting and compliance engagements, oversee teams, review technical tax work, and support client relationships within private equity portfolio and investment company groups.

Position Overview:
The Tax Senior Manager supports private equity portfolio and investment company clients by overseeing complex passthrough tax matters, reviewing operating and transaction documents, and guiding engagement teams. The role includes advanced technical review, issue identification, workflow management, staff development, and business development. This position is viewed as a future shareholder track opportunity for a motivated professional ready to advance their career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and consult on operating agreements, LOIs, purchase agreements, and related tax transaction documents.
- Review and develop workpapers involving partnership allocations, basis adjustments, and other advanced technical tax matters.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships within the private equity and investment industry.
- Collaborate across the firm to provide broader business solutions to clients and prospects.
- Monitor industry trends to proactively advise clients during periods of change.
- Expand technical expertise and specialty knowledge for continued professional growth.
- Manage engagement economics including billing and collections.
- Communicate engagement progress, coordinate workflow, and ensure proper planning to meet client expectations.
- Deliver effective performance feedback and recognize excellence within the team.
- Attract, develop, and retain top talent across the practice.
- Grow a business network through collaboration with colleagues, referral partners, prospects, and community organizations.
- Represent the firm in the business community and participate in professional organizations.
- Support community involvement and service initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law; Master’s in Tax/LLM preferred.
- 7+ years of recent public accounting experience focused on passthrough entities and Subchapter K reporting.
- Proven experience managing multiple complex engagements and guiding teams.
- CPA certification required.
- Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with modern tax software and technology tools.
