POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipping & Receiving Specialist is responsible for controlling material movements and executing ERP transactions to maintain accurate inventory records. This role ensures timely and accurate receipt of materials, proper storage and traceability, and compliant packaging and shipment of outgoing products.
The position plays a critical role in supporting production flow, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring customer shipments meet company and regulatory requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving & Material Control
- Verify materials against purchase orders and packing slips, perform incoming receipt transactions in our ERP system.
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, and traceability of all received materials.
- Confirm required documentation (e.g., certifications, SDS) is complete and filed appropriately.
- Identify and report discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials to the appropriate department.
- Move received materials to designated storage locations.
Inventory & ERP System Accuracy
- Maintain accurate inventory records through timely and accurate ERP transactions.
- Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
- Maintain organization of material storage areas.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of shipping and packaging supplies.
Shipping & Logistics
- Package, label, and prepare outgoing shipments according to customer and company requirements.
- Determine appropriate shipping methods based on urgency, cost, and routing requirements.
- Coordinate with carriers and freight providers to ensure on-time shipments.
- Verify outgoing shipments for completeness and documentation accuracy prior to release.
Equipment & Material Handling
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and overhead cranes as required.
- Handle high-value or sensitive components with care.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment utilizing 5S principles.
Cross-Functional Support
- Coordinate with Production, Supply Chain, and Inventory Control to ensure smooth material flow.
- Support internal and external audits related to inventory and shipping documentation as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material flow and shipping efficiency.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience working in an ERP system preferred (E2 experience a plus).
- Aerospace or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of inventory control and material handling practices.
- Ability to read and interpret purchase orders and shipping documentation.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (ERP transactions, email, documentation systems).
- Ability to communicate effectively across departments.
The compensation range posted represents the full salary range for the role. Actual pay will be determined based on a candidate’s experience, skills, and the position level ultimately offered.
