About This Position
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant will assist
in patient care duties. Direct patient care is done under the direction of a
Registered Nurse and within the scope of sound professional nursing practice to
be delegated. The PCA will also perform other assigned duties for which they
have been specifically trained in.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
High school graduate or equivalent upon hire or transfer to the
department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate through the American
Heart Association (AHA) required within ninety (90) days of hire or transferred to department. Employees must also enroll in a Certified
Nursing Assistant course within one (1) year of hire date
B. Training & Experience:
Must have knowledge of some medical and technical terminology and be
familiar with hospital policies and procedures. Computer Training will be
completed as part of orientation.

2. Sustained standing and walking
B. May encounter exposure to infectious diseases.
