Tyndale House Publishers is seeking a Maintenance & Grounds Assistant to support the Facilities team in maintaining our buildings and campus grounds during the summer months (May through August). This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active, and contributing to a team.
Our facilities and grounds help create a welcoming and well-maintained environment for employees, authors, and guests who visit Tyndale. As a Maintenance & Grounds Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the team that keeps our campus well-maintained, safe, and ready for daily work and special events.
What You'll Do
- Assist with grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, watering, and weed control
- Maintain landscaped areas by trimming shrubs, caring for flower beds, and supporting seasonal planting and mulching
- Help with turf care such as aerating, overseeding, and repairing damaged lawn areas
- Monitor outdoor spaces for litter or hazards to keep the campus clean and safe
- Support irrigation efforts and report issues with sprinklers, hoses, or dry areas
- Assist with seasonal outdoor projects such as repainting posts, cleaning walkways, and refreshing outdoor spaces
- Help set up tables, chairs, and equipment for company events and chapel gatherings
- Provide general support to the Facilities and Maintenance team on small projects
- Organize tools and supplies and assist with moving furniture or materials as needed
Skills and Qualifications Needed
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Interest or experience in landscaping, lawn care, or outdoor work
- Ability to safely operate lawn equipment (mowers, trimmers, etc.) — training provided
- Comfortable working outdoors in summer weather
- Ability to lift and move equipment or supplies as needed
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to follow instructions
- Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
- Strong teamwork and respect for coworkers and visitors
