Release of Information Specialist at Cookeville Regional Medical Center – Cookeville, Tennessee

The Release of Information Specialist is responsible for release of information functions of the Medical Records Department, which includes applying knowledge of laws and regulations governing patient privacy, screening and processing requests for information, understanding of the content of medical records and bills, following the policies and procedures of the hospital, denying requests when appropriate, assisting customers by phone, letter and in person, locating, copying, printing or faxing records and producing invoices for release of information functions, collects and follows up on collection of payments for copies, deposits money per accounting procedure, providing monthly reports, etc.

Education: Associates Degree Required

Certification Details:

Education and credentials as a Registered Health Information Administrator or a Registered Health Information Technician.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 1 year in medical records practice in a healthcare setting required; release of information experience preferred.
