Supply Chain Technician II

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the supply replenishment process to clinical areas in Memorial Healthcare. This position handles incoming supplies, physically moving inventory, assessing and monitoring supply quantities in all locations. Electronically records supply replenishment needs. Addresses supply related customer service needs of hospital clinicians. Maintains constant vigilance for cost savings and cost reduction opportunities. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Timely supply ordering and supply replenishment of hospital supply nodes.
  2. Scanning and documenting replenishment and depletion of inventory.
  3. Receipt and repackaging of bulk stock into individual
  4. Track inventory quantity and utilization to provide analytics for key inventory metric.
  5. Verifies receipt of supplies.
  6. Processes supply requests in a prompt, cooperative and efficient manner
  7. Monitors supplies for outdates and rotates stock.
  8. Monitors and maintains PAR levels of supplies in central supply room.
  9. Receives, restocks, delivers supplies
  10. Notifies appropriate personnel of potential / actual stock shortages
  11. Maintains appropriate supply inventory to ensure all required healthcare can be delivered.
  12. Procures supplies from the central warehouse necessary to restock patient care areas.
  13. Maintains appropriate stock of supply levels necessary for continuance of operations of supply chain department and all hospital service lines.
  1. Transports inventory from stock room to central supply room.
  2. Assesses each clinical area supply room’s inventory and enters replenishment orders into handheld bar code scanner.
  3. Electronically processes all replenishment orders to appropriately decrement inventory.
  4. Electronically creates supply replenishment pick tickets.
  5. Physically picks all supplies from the pick ticket and creates a stocked replenishment cart, from supplies in the central supply room.
  6. Transports the stocked replenishment carts to clinical supply rooms and restocks the supply bins to appropriate PAR levels.
  7. Interacts with clinical staff and monitors customer satisfaction with supplies.
  8. Cleans supply bins, shelving, carts and maintains work area in clean, orderly fashion.
  9. Demonstrates job related aspects of safety, including proper body mechanics, work pacing and hand washing, isolation precautions, PPE donning/doffing, emergency code situations and awareness of patient safety at all times.
  10. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

DEPARTMENTAL AND ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists other hospital staff and supply chain management staff as needed.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

Must possess one of the following:

  1. Three years of healthcare supply chain experience.
  2. Five years of general supply chain experience
  3. Five years of healthcare experience in a patient care delivery capacity.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES/MOTOR SKILLS

  1. Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
  2. Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).
  3. Walk/stand on a continuous basis.
  1. Perform repetitive forward reaching, including overhead with bilateral arms on a continuous basis.
  2. Perform repetitive fine motor coordination with bilateral hands on a continuous basis.
  3. Read computer screens and printed labels of various sizes on a frequent basis.
  4. Push/cart supply cart weighing up to 150 lbs on a frequent basis.
  5. Lift 50 lb box from floor to waist on an occasional basis.
  6. Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
  7. Small motor skills required to operate modern computer, office, barcode scanning and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL ABILITIES

  1. Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipment as used by Memorial Healthcare.
  2. Ability to count physical supplies and perform basic mathematical calculations to identify PAR levels.
  3. Ability to utilize commuter software program and barcode scanner utilized by Memorial Healthcare.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES

  1. Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
  2. Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents including, but not limited to policies, operating instructions, white papers, regulations, rules and laws.
  3. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  4. Ability to converse with hospital staff to assess supply needs.

ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including but not limited to paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals.
  2. Able to see and hear for work-related purposes.
  3. Able to count supplies accurately.

  1. Ability to interact with co-workers, hospital staff, administration, patients, physicians, the public and all internal and external customers in a professional and effective, courteous and tactful manner, at all times, physically, verbally and in all written and electronic communication.
