About This Position
Position Overview:
Trident Pain Center, LLC is seeking a highly organized and proactive Prior Authorization Specialist to join our billing team at our North Charleston, SC location. This role is primarily responsible for securing insurance authorizations for interventional pain management procedures. The ideal candidate will work closely with providers, insurance companies, and clinical staff to ensure authorizations are obtained accurately and efficiently. While the main focus is on procedural authorizations, this position may occasionally assist with medication or diagnostic testing requests as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Submit and manage prior authorization requests for interventional pain management procedures.
- Monitor pending authorizations and follow up with insurance payers to avoid delays in patient care.
- Collaborate with providers and clinical teams to gather required documentation for authorization submissions.
- Verify insurance coverage and patient eligibility prior to submitting requests.
- Document all authorization activity and status updates in the EHR and billing systems accurately.
- Assist with appeals or additional information requests from insurance companies, when necessary.
- Support occasional prior authorization efforts related to medications or diagnostic testing, as needed.
- Stay current with payer authorization requirements, pain management coding, and insurance policies.
- Coordinate with the billing team to prevent claim denials related to authorization issues.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional training in medical billing, health administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in prior authorizations, medical billing, or healthcare administration (experience in pain management is a plus).
- Familiarity with CPT codes, insurance processes, and medical terminology relevant to procedural care.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple authorization requests efficiently and accurately.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
