We’re looking for a motivated and hands-on Construction Foreman – Jetting Crew to join our Construction and Maintenance Team. This role will lead a skilled team on various construction sites, ensuring safe and efficient work processes while overseeing the installation and construction of fibreoptic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and guide Jetting Crew, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to the highest quality standards.
- Ensure fibre optic cable is jetted efficiently into rural and town builds.
- Read job plans and utility locates to ensure approvals for builds and safety.
- Coordinate daily activities and problem-solve issues on-site to maintain smooth operations.
- Plan material deliveries and ensure adequate manpower to handle mechanical or scope changes.
- Communicate regularly with the Superintendent regarding work activities, workflow, and any issues.
- Complete and submit daily production reports including as-builts, quality control documents, and checklists.
- Mentor new and existing workers on best construction practices and a culture of safety.
- Conduct Toolbox meetings and promote clear communication and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure RFNOW and MB/SK OH&S standards, policies, and procedures are followed.
- Report all incidents (near misses, property damage, injuries) before the end of each shift.
- Maintain positive interaction with consumers and the public.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous field construction experience is required.
- Knowledge of jetting equipment, compressors, and mini-hoes.
- Experience reading job plans and utility locates.
- Supervisory experience in the telecom industry is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with heavy equipment for underground construction (backhoe, cats, drilling, hydro vac) is an asset but not required. Training available for suitable applicants.
Requirements:
- Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods throughout the day.
- Willingness to travel Monday to Friday throughout MB and SK.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to maintain a respectful working environment.
- A minimum valid Class 3 driver’s license is required; Class 1 is preferred.
- Regular work out of town and in remote locations.
