CDL Class A Truck Driver

Position: CDL Class A Truck Driver – Full Time

Department: Homer Tree Service, Inc & Homer Industries

Job Summary: The Class A Truck Driver is a highly motivated and experienced driver that is detail oriented, has strong communication skills, and is willing to work as a team. Must have experience with manual transmissions, double axels and longer trailers as well as experience in off-road driving and rough terrains. Our drivers must always drive safely and be professional and courteous when talking with Supervisors, coworkers and customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Obeys all local, State, Federal and IDOT regulations
Inspects truck and equipment before leaving and after arriving at locations
Safely transport equipment to customer locations in a timely, safe and courteous manner
Maintain driver logs and complete pre-trip inspections
Follow all Homer Tree Service Procedures and Safety Standards
Adhere to all safety requirements particular to the equipment, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
Maintain a clean truck, equipment or machinery
Assist in loading and unloading of materials
Transport materials from place of origin to assigned destination
Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Effective Communication with supervisors and coworkers
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Crew Leader

Qualifications:

Must hold a valid Illinois Class-A CDL with air brake endorsement.
Must have a minimum 2 years' experience as a CDL driver
Clean driving record with no moving violations
Clean background check and drug test
Experience with manual transmissions, double axles and longer trailers
Experience in off-road driving & rough terrains
OSHA familiarity/training
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Diligent attention to detail and safety
Excellent verbal communication and customer orientation

Benefits:

Starting pay is $24-$28/hr
Pay is determined by experience, skill, education, and other factors
Able to enroll in benefits after 60-day new hire probation period
