About This Position
SUMMARY:
The Technical Solutions Specialist serves as a strategic and technical partner across the organization, providing IT strategy guidance and ensuring technology initiatives align with Cannon Instrument Company’s business objectives. This role plays a critical part in evaluating, recommending, and implementing technology solutions that drive efficiency, innovation, and long-term growth.
In addition, this position will act as the company’s primary subject matter expert and internal champion for Artificial Intelligence (AI)—identifying opportunities, guiding responsible adoption, and leading AI-related initiatives that enhance operations, decision-making, and customer value.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage current ITSP and guide as necessary.
- Partner with business leaders to understand organizational goals and translate them into actionable IT and technology strategies.
- Evaluate current systems, tools, and infrastructure to ensure alignment with business needs, scalability, and long-term objectives.
- Provide strategic recommendations on technology investments, ensuring ROI, operational efficiency, and innovation.
- Support the development and execution of technology roadmaps aligned with company priorities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to analytical instrumentation and manufacturing environments.
- Act as the go-to expert for AI initiatives, including identification, evaluation, and implementation of AI-driven solutions.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation to improve internal processes, data analysis, customer support, product development, and operational efficiency.
- Lead pilot programs, proofs of concept, and vendor evaluations related to AI tools and platforms.
- Establish best practices for responsible, secure, and ethical use of AI across the organization.
- Educate and collaborate with cross-functional teams on AI capabilities, limitations, and practical applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to design, implement, and optimize technology solutions.
- Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with company standards and applicable regulations.
- Provide technical leadership during implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and recommend long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes.
- Document solution designs, standards, and processes to support knowledge sharing and continuity.
- Support change management efforts related to new technology implementations.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 4–7 years of progressive experience in IT, technical solutions, systems architecture, or technology strategy roles.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, cloud technologies, and system integration.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and implementing technology solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Working knowledge of AI, machine learning, automation tools, or data-driven technologies, with the ability to translate concepts into practical business use cases.
- Experience leading or supporting AI or automation initiatives in a business environment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, instrumentation, engineering, or regulated industry environments preferred.
- Experience working with vendors, consultants, and cross-functional internal teams.
- Exposure to cybersecurity principles and data governance best practices.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Visual acuity sufficient to read manuals, video display screens and other related material and work at a computer screen frequently and throughout the day.
- Occasionally standing, bending, stooping, and/or kneeling.
- Sit for long periods in a typing position.
- Lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently.
