Job Summary
This position is 100% grant funded.

The UK College of Social Work Training Resource Center is seeking a qualified Training Specialist. This position will be responsible for:

Program Development and Curriculum Design

Provide leadership for the development, strategic growth, and continuous improvement of foster parent training initiatives designed to support caregivers and strengthen child welfare outcomes statewide.

Identify learning opportunities and needs as well as relevant training topics for targeted audiences through research and collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Design and develop high-quality training curricula. Responsibilities include establishing clear learning objectives, structuring course content, developing instructional materials, and creating detailed storyboards and scripts for multiple modalities (i.e., in-person, asynchronous web- based, live virtual training, etc.).

Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and expansion of training initiatives designed to support foster parents and meet program contract objectives. Identify opportunities for program innovation, growth, and enhancement, including integration of technology-based training platforms, virtual learning opportunities, and new training delivery modalities.

Maintain current knowledge on child welfare issues, resources, evidence-based practices, and training modalities through attendance at relevant conferences/workshops/trainings, research, and other methods.

Collaborate with CoSW staff to adapt curricula to web-based platforms. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify curriculum development and training needs for targeted audiences.

Collaborate with DCBS to pilot new training curricula and provide feedback and input on content and training delivery. Monitor and evaluate program activities and training outcomes to support continuous quality improvement and strategic planning.


Training Delivery and Quality Assurance

Deliver quality trainings in multiple modalities (i.e., in-person, webinar, virtual interactive trainings, etc.) in order to meet identified learning objectives for the intended
audience(s). Facilitate engaging learning experiences using strong presentation and instructional facilitation skills. Apply adult learning principles, interactive teaching strategies, and effective communication techniques to promote participant engagement, knowledge retention, and practical application of content.
Manage both in-person and virtual classroom environments to create a positive and productive learning experience. Responsibilities include guiding discussions, encouraging participation, managing group dynamics, addressing questions, and adapting instructional approaches in response to participant needs and learning styles.
Routinely review and facilitate improvement of existing trainings and training materials on an ongoing basis to ensure the information is accurate, relevant, and can still be referenced as cited.
Collaborate with other Program Coordinators to ensure training materials fit the desired delivery modality and serve as a resource for content development.


Program Support and Promotion

Collaborate with sponsor to assess needs, desired outcomes, and develop appropriate benchmarks for program activity. Develop and distribute materials to promote the program in collaboration with CoSW Marketing/Communications staff. Develop, implement, and evaluate statewide strategies to promote foster parent training services. Regularly review online and printed materials to ensure all information regarding program services is accurate. Provide content for social media platforms in accordance with departmental and University guidelines and through consultation with the sponsor and other relevant stakeholders to promote program services and resources.

Identify new resources and oversee the maintenance of the FASTHelp webpage which provides foster parenting and child welfare related resources to multiple audiences. Administer the statewide Foster/Adoptive Support and Training (FAST) hotline to provide support and resources to foster/adoptive parents.

Promote program services to DCBS staff and other relevant stakeholders and partners on a regular, ongoing basis. Serve as a program representative at statewide and community events related to child welfare generally, and foster parent training, specifically. Serve on child welfare and foster/adoptive parent committees/workgroups.
Technical Assistance and Support

Coordinate activities and technical support related to DCBS statewide and/or regional foster parent appreciation events and awards.

Approve invoices and reimbursement requests from independent contractors. Collaborate with the Business Office on oversight of the program budget in accordance with guidelines established by the university and the grant sponsor.

Coordinate professional development/training opportunities for independent contractors in collaboration with other Program Coordinators. Provide technical assistance and support related to training issues.
