JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: PHYSICAL THERAPIST
DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL
SUPERVISOR: CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER
CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT FULL-TIME

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Physical Therapist provides high-quality rehabilitation services to patients dealing with musculoskeletal, neurological, and orthopedic conditions. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside chiropractors, medical doctors, and other specialists to deliver comprehensive care that helps patients recover, manage pain, and improve their overall function and quality of life.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Patient Evaluation & Assessment:
•Conduct thorough physical evaluations to assess the strength, mobility, and functional status of patients.
•Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s diagnosis, goals, and physical assessment findings.
•Perform movement analysis and identify impairments or dysfunctions that may limit patient function or mobility.

Treatment & Rehabilitation:
•Provide therapeutic interventions such as manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and modalities (e.g., heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation) to help patients recover from injuries or surgeries.
•Teach patients appropriate exercises, stretches, and home programs to improve mobility, strength, and function.
•Implement rehabilitation strategies for injury recovery, chronic pain management, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Collaboration & Communication:
•Collaborate with the clinic’s multidisciplinary team (including chiropractors, physicians, and specialists) to ensure a comprehensive, patient-centered approach to care.
•Communicate with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity and coordination of care for patients.
•Refer patients to other specialists or services as necessary for additional care.
Patient Education & Empowerment:
•Educate patients on injury prevention, posture correction, body mechanics, and lifestyle modifications to avoid future injuries.
•Encourage and support patients in taking an active role in their rehabilitation process to optimize their recovery.
Clinical Documentation & Compliance:
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes, in compliance with clinic policies and state regulations.
•Ensure all patient documentation meets the required standards for billing, insurance, and legal compliance.
•Provide clear, concise, and timely progress reports to physicians, insurance companies, and other healthcare providers as needed.

Clinical Excellence & Continuing Education:
•Attend and participate in administrative duties such as completing MedTrainers, annual training, attending monthly Provider Meetings and other administrative activities as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer or his representative.
•Stay informed of the latest physical therapy treatments, techniques, and research to ensure the delivery of evidence-based care.
•Pursue ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills.
•Follow ethical guidelines and clinic protocols to provide the highest standard of care.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
•Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
•Current and active physical therapy license in the state of California.
•2-5 years of clinical experience
•Experience in outpatient, rehabilitation, or community health settings is a plus
•Strong clinical knowledge of physical therapy techniques, rehabilitation modalities, and treatment options for musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with patients and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
•Ability to develop and implement effective rehabilitation plans based on individual patient needs.
•Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and ensuring documentation meets legal and insurance requirements.
•Compassionate, patient-focused approach with a commitment to patient education and empowerment.
Preferred:
•Certification or specialization in areas such as orthopedic physical therapy (e.g., OCS), neurological rehabilitation, or manual therapy.
•Bilingual in Spanish or other languages.
•Experience working with pediatric, geriatric, or diverse populations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Approximately 40% of time is spent working at a desk or seated while documenting, reviewing patient information, or conducting consultations. The balance of time, approximately 60%, is spent standing, walking between patient areas, or performing examinations and procedures in clinical or hospital settings. The role requires the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, medical staff, and external agencies in person, by telephone, and through electronic systems. Vision requirements include the ability to use a computer screen and interpret printed materials, diagnostic images, lab reports, and other medical documentation. The position also requires the occasional ability to lift and/or move patients or medical equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance if necessary. Physicians must be able to stoop or kneel to access patients or retrieve supplies, and have the dexterity to reach for, handle, and operate medical instruments and input data into electronic systems. Standard medical and office equipment is used regularly, including computers, telephones, stethoscopes, diagnostic tools, copiers, and fax machines. Work is performed in a outpatient clinic or medical office environment, with frequent contact with medical staff, patients, and the public.
