About This Position

Job Overview:

The Crisis Worker will respond to family crisis calls and utilize crisis de-escalation skills and conduct family interviews to gather relevant information. This position is located in Union County, NJ and requires working in the field in an urban/suburban area.

This position utilizes a teamwork approach with staff and management. Training is provided, as well as, ongoing education and support.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of BA in psychology, mental health, social work, sociology or related behavioral health field degree
  • Post Bachelor's degree, one year experience in a relevant field
  • Unencumbered current New Jersey driver's license as determined by the employer and validated by the NJMVA
  • A vehicle for working in the field in an urban/suburban area

Preferred:

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Creole, or Portuguese

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, 2 days in the community, 1-9pm, 3 days in the office 8-4pm or 9-5pm
  • Weekday on call every other week from 9pm-8am
  • Weekend on call 9pm Friday to 8am Monday every 6-8 weeks
  • FT

Essential Functions:

  • Work with the family to stabilize the crisis
  • Complete risk assessments
  • Develop crisis plans
  • Make referrals to behavioral health agencies, child protection services as well as to community-based agencies that will provide families with additional support
