About This Position

The Case Manager of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) provides outreach, advocacy and case management to young adults who are survivors of sexual exploitation.

Reports To: Manager of Outreach and Supportive Services

Schedule: Monday through Friday 11:00AM to 7:00PM

essential duties

Community Relations and Outreach

  1. Contact and build rapport with adults 18-24 years of age who are currently experiencing and are at heightened risk of homelessness, human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
  2. Conduct community outreach at community organizations, public libraries, schools, social service agencies, teen centers, and other services and locations frequented by young people, to inform and educate employees and young adults of available program services.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with courts, detention, police, other employees and systems young people may be involved with.

Direct Service Tasks

  1. Provide individual advocacy to young people who are survivors of commercial sexual exploitation or are at-risk of commercial sexual exploitation.
  2. Develop individualized, trauma-informed, strength-based, client-driven service plans in core areas of education, employment, health, housing, life skills, mental health, recovery, safety and substance use.
  3. Maintain regular contact with clients to respond to emerging needs and crises.
  4. Assist young adults in navigating systems, including, but not limited to detention, Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and the justice system.
  5. Connect commercial sexually exploited young adults to community resources, education, employment, health, housing, life skills, mental health services, substance use services, etc.
  6. Collaborate with Friends of Youth’s employees, community partners, family and natural supports, to identify, engage and support clients in promoting safety, navigate systems and connect to appropriate services.

Administrative Tasks

  1. Maintain complete and timely documentation of client files, including enrollment forms, goal plans, confidentiality, compliance related documents and case notes for up to 15 clients.
  2. Compile monthly reports in compliance with agency and contract requirements.
  3. Participate in weekly supervision, monthly case consultation meetings and monthly team meetings.

job requirements

a. Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a human-service field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience, providing direct services to young adults who have been victims of commercial and/or sex trafficking, sexual abuse, assault and/or exploitation.
  3. Knowledge and experience in crisis intervention, child abuse/neglect, domestic violence, family dynamics, housing and homelessness, juvenile, justice, substance use, mental health, public assistance rights, sexual abuse and assault and trauma.
  4. Experience networking and advocating with other agencies to access educational, financial, housing, legal, medical, and other resources on behalf of young adults.
  5. Experience with motivational interviewing and employment coaching preferred.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.

b. Additional Requirements

  1. Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.
  2. Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.
  3. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).
  4. Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business, must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.
  5. Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
  6. Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens.
  7. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. There are no exemptions.

  10. Able and willing to travel to multiple local sites and other locations in personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
  11. Proficient skill set with Microsoft Office programs.
