Pay: $20.68/hour + $2.00/hour weekend differential

(Pay determined based on experience and qualifications in accordance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work law.)
Schedule: 40 hours/week (includes flex time)

Department: Community Living (Residential)


The mission of The Arc Carroll County is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their pursuit of a fulfilling life. Our Community Living program provides 24/7 supports to individuals living in our residential homes.

This position is a full-time leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operation of a residential home while providing direct support to residents. The RA supervises Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensures compliance with state regulations and agency policies, and supports residents in achieving person-centered goals.

Schedule
  • Monday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Total hours: 37 scheduled hours + 3 hours of RA flex time
Essential Responsibilities
  • Create and manage monthly staff schedules, coordinate coverage for open shifts.
  • Supervise, train, onboard, and evaluate Direct Support Professionals.
  • Provide support, supervision and oversight to direct care staff, ensuring they complete their daily tasks.
  • Provide direct support to residents, assisting with daily living skills, personal care, and community activities.
  • Implement and participate in the Person-Centered Plan (PCP) process.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals, grocery shop within budget, and maintain household standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including daily logs, incident reports, timesheets, and training records.
  • Document resident progress toward goals in iCare Manager.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained home while promoting resident independence.
  • Transport residents to appointments, activities, and outings as needed.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all residents.
  • Assist residents with life skills and basic needs such as bathing and grooming and coordinating with other staff members to ensure that resident needs are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Residential Advisor QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA degree, or 60 credit hours with emphasis in human services related subjects, or 15 credit hours with emphasis in human services related subject and one year of experience in the treatment and care of people with developmental disabilities. High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience will substitute.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Completion of CPR, First Aid and other Developmental Disabilities Administration and Arc required training.
  • Valid driver's license with no more than 2 current points on record.
  • Clean drug screen and criminal record (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults).
  • The ability to successfully pass a drug screening.

Residential Advisor PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required; including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
  • Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Hoyer lift. Ability to safely and physically secure an individual in a vehicle, including properly applying and fastening wheelchair tie-downs and straps.
