Job Title: Institutional Giving Manager

Salary range: $63,000-80,000

Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Institutional Giving Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the Maryland SPCA by managing and growing a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funders. This position identifies, solicits, and stewards donors capable of both cash and in-kind support for the annual operating fund. The Manager will also participate in strategic planning sessions and donor development to build momentum for the organization’s planned capital campaign.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The MD SPCA is an $8.2M+ organization with about half of its annual revenue raised by a ten-member Development team. The Institutional Giving Manager’s role includes:
- Strategy and Donor Development
- Plan and execute a strategy that increases annual revenue and builds donor relations with a capital campaign in mind.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of approximately 150 grant-making partners, corporate sponsors, and workplace giving partners.
- Collaborate with other colleagues, organization leaders, and Board members as networkers and cultivators.
- Solicitation and Stewardship
- Work across departments to align programmatic needs with grant and sponsorship opportunities.
- Prepare and manage proposals, recognition opportunities, reports, and other materials for grant-making organizations and corporate sponsors.
- Focus on five- and six-figure commitments as well as material gifts such as veterinary equipment and supplies.
- Data and Reporting
- Track progress toward institutional revenue goals and analyze and report on acquisition, upgrades, and retention.
- Use the organization’s CRM and shared files to grants and sponsorships using the organization’s CRM and shared files; ensure timely reporting and renewal.
- Other Duties
- Lead tours and meet with corporate volunteer groups.
- Support overall development goals, campaigns, and events as needed.
Qualifications
- Four+ years of development or related experience with experience drafting successful grant proposals and/or sponsorship packages. Writing samples may be requested.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Comfort with working with a team and independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRMs.

Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, eligible for a hybrid schedule after 60 days. Remote work will be reevaluated based on success in a remote setting. Occasional on-site events, meetings, and trainings will be required.
The MD SPCA provides a shared office setting. Applicants should expect a low to moderate noise level and occasional exposure to animals.
