Security Field Supervisor

Description

Position Purpose

The Security Field Supervisor oversees the technician team, managing task assignments, training, progress monitoring, and ensuring work meets quality and safety standards. This role involves coordinating with other departments to resolve technical issues, optimize performance, and maintain schedules.

Compensation: Paid in accordance with local union rates.

  • General Foreman: $61.79 per hour
  • Foreman: $56.64 per hour
  • Journeyman: $51.49 per hour


Benefits: This position is collectively bargained and all benefits are provided by the union.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily activities of security technicians, including managing schedules, manpower planning, progress monitoring, and ensuring quality and timely completion of tasks.
  • Provide guidance and support for complex troubleshooting, system diagnostics, installations, and technical issues.
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage security technicians, including hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist with project commissioning, programming, management, and support sales teams with labor estimates and change orders.
  • Help resolve customer concerns and disputes with regards to installations, startup, and commissioning
  • Look for changes in the work and alerts project managers to change order opportunities.
  • Ability to support sales and engineering teams by assessing existing mechanical and security systems to identify and prepare for retrofit opportunities.
  • Continuously strives to improve LONG processes, quality, employees, and oneself.
  • Ensure the quality, standardization, and timeliness of all security solutions construction activities.
  • Be familiar with job site completion deadlines and coordinate workforce and material, needs with Security solutions operations manager, project managers, installers, security technicians, customers, and other trades.
  • Assist project managers and accounting with billing accuracy in work completion.
  • Ensure that Technician cost estimate (labor and material) is met by teams.
  • Work to ensure that LONG is fairly compensated for all work including that performed outside contractual obligations.
  • Efficiently allocate billable time to projects.
  • Identify training or development needs for the team members.
  • Enforce safety procedures, conduct safety inspections, and promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Involve LONG management in bid and other business opportunities that present unusual or excessive risk.
  • Attend job site coordination where applicable.
  • Provide documentation as needed for scheduling, personnel, billing, and job site issues.
  • Perform timely and accurate timecard reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 2 years of computer/electronic technical degree and 5-7 years security system start-up, checkout, and service experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
  • Expert knowledge of security and electrical systems, including installation, engineering, and management.
  • Strong analytical skills for software and integration challenges.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Possess good leadership, communication (written and verbal), and computer skills.
  • Possess good organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to travel to and inspect jobsites and to visit customer locations.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of MS project and Blue Beam
  • Knowledge of LONG's system operations and infrastructure, as it pertains to construction operations and its stakeholders.

Physical Requirements

  • This position may involve standing for extended periods and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 75 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • This position may require climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
