Maintenance Technician at JSM Living – Champaign, Illinois

JSM Living is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. We manage a diverse portfolio of residential apartments and commercial properties, and this role is essential to keeping our buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained for our residents and tenants.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, approaches maintenance challenges with a problem-solving mindset, and can be relied on to show up and contribute consistently. Strong attendance and dependability are key to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance tasks such as repairing plumbing leaks, replacing light fixtures and ballasts, clearing drains, servicing HVAC filters, repairing or replacing door hardware, and responding to general service requests across properties
• Complete daily maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance at properties
• Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
• Perform safety inspections and preventive maintenance checks as assigned
• Operate, clean, and maintain various power and manual tools and maintenance equipment
• Accurately document time, labor, and materials using electronic systems
• Participate in the on-call maintenance rotation as assigned
• Provide maintenance support during peak periods, which may require overtime

What We're Looking For

• Valid driver’s license required
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on maintenance and operations experience
• A dependable team player with reliable attendance and the ability to work a full-time schedule (40 hours/week)
• Flexibility for occasional overtime or on-call needs
• Ability to work professionally with coworkers, tenants, and vendors
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly starting rate - $21-$26 per hour
