Trailer Technician at Schneider – Gary, Indiana

Location: Gary, IN, USA

Shift: 2nd Shift

Schedule: FULLTIME; Wednesday-Friday and every other weekend, 3:00 p.m.-1:30 a.m.

Job overview:

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, rebuilds and component replacements as a Trailer Technician in Gary, IN.
• Work on company trailers.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine repairs and preventive maintenance to trailers - like tire changes, minor electrical repairs and greasing.
• Use maintenance software to create and track work orders.
• Communicate status updates with internal customers.

Skills and qualifications:

• Technical degree in welding, electronics, or related systems, or a minimum of 1 year of trailer technician experience.
• Basic welding skills preferred.
• Computer systems and diagnostic software experience.
• Able to provide recommendations regarding maintenance and repair decisions.
• Able to provide own tools within 30 days of hire.

• Non-exempt U.S. shop associates working 50% or greater of the daily shift time between 3 p.m. and 5 a.m. local time, receive a $1.50 per hour differential for hours worked.
• Non-exempt U.S. shop associates working weekend hours, receive an additional $0.65 per hour differential for hours worked. (Weekend hours worked between 9pm Friday - 5am Monday).
