Location: Clinton, WI

Pay: $25.00+ based on experience

Hours: Full-Time hourly position, Monday- Friday 7:00am -4:00pm (some overtime may be required)

Transport Mechanic job description:

The Transport Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of company-owned transportation equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation. This role supports fleet readiness by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and completing repairs in accordance with company policies, DOT regulations, and industry best practices.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance on tractors, trailers, and related transportation equipment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues
  • Repair or replace defective components including brakes, suspension, steering, tires, wheels, hubs, and lighting systems
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure equipment meets federal, state, and company safety standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in a timely manner
  • Perform emergency or roadside repairs as required
  • Identify potential equipment issues and recommend corrective or preventive actions
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and management regarding equipment status and repair needs
  • Support seasonal or operational demands as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and work under or around heavy equipment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and shop environments
  • Manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience as a diesel, transport, or fleet mechanic preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle inspection requirements
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience a plus
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
