Our team of sales, operations, manufacturing, and professional Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Structural Engineers has contributed to some of the largest and most complex projects in the U.S. and internationally—including hospitals, convention centers, sports venues, data centers, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, and schools.
PURPOSE / SUMMARYAs a Design Lead, you will play a critical leadership role in the success of our Capital Projects by overseeing the preconstruction design process, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of engineering packages, and serving as the primary engineering point of contact for large-scale, complex projects. This role is designed to fully leverage your technical expertise and leadership ability while offering long-term career growth as ISAT Total Support continues to expand.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead and direct the Engineering team in support of Capital Projects.
• Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for project-related matters.
• Understand project scope, schedules, and deliverables; provide engineering durations and input to Project Managers.
• Prioritize engineering tasks to meet project schedules and customer expectations.
• Ensure quality control of all engineering deliverables.
• Attend project kickoff meetings and weekly internal coordination meetings.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on manpower forecasting.
• Escalate engineering and project-related issues as needed.
• Develop expertise in applicable building codes and standards (IBC/ASCE 7, CBC, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.).
• Utilize and support engineering software tools such as RISA-3D, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD, EnerCALC, and Mathcad.
• Train and mentor engineers; provide hands-on technical guidance.
• Drive process improvements and support adoption of new engineering tools and methods.
• Maintain in-depth product and system knowledge to support innovative design solutions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Typical Daily Responsibilities Include:
• Responding to engineering inquiries from contractors, owners, and fabricators.
• Performing structural analyses and generating reaction loads.
• Reviewing shop drawings for constructability and compliance.
• Coordinating with PMs, fabrication, VDC, and other internal teams.
• Conducting QA/QC reviews of engineering packages.
• Developing rigging and lifting designs.
• Supporting field coordination and construction sequencing.
• Preparing and stamping engineering packages when required.
• Communicating clearly and responsively with all stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Civil, or related Engineering discipline required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive engineering experience in construction or structural design environments.
• Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes and industry standards.
• Advanced experience with engineering and design software.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating cross-functionally.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
• Must be able to operate standard office equipment and computers continuously.
• Must occasionally move throughout office/warehouse environments and job sites.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information.
• Must be able to visually inspect and assess details at close range.
• Must tolerate typical office and warehouse noise levels and occasional outdoor site conditions.
