This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead state and local tax compliance while contributing to the strategic financial health of the organization. As a Sr Indirect Tax Accountant, you will manage multi-state and local tax filings, support audits, and provide actionable insights on tax strategies across products and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accounting, operations, and external vendors, ensuring accurate accruals and compliance. This position provides exposure to complex tax regulations, opportunities to influence process improvements, and the ability to work in a dynamic, supportive environment that values precision, collaboration, and professional growth.
Accountabilities:- Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual state and local tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Analyze tax laws and advise on the taxability of new products and services, supporting effective tax strategies.
- Assist with audits, gather documentation, and coordinate responses with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate tax issues and recommendations to accounting teams, field operations, and management.
- Record and reconcile general ledger entries for assigned tax liabilities in accordance with GAAP.
- Maintain adherence to internal controls over tax accounting procedures.
- Collaborate with vendors, regulatory agencies, and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience with state and local tax compliance and accounting practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience preparing general ledger entries, reconciliations, and tax accruals.
