Regional Operations Manager - Data Centre / Hyper-scale / Co-location expertise
Role Purpose
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering commissioning and technical operations across multiple data centre projects sites across Europe.
The role ensures that all technical, operational, and delivery activities are executed:
- Safely
- Efficiently
- Consistently
- In line with company standards
- In accordance with contractual and client requirements
The Regional Operations Manager is the senior technical authority within the region and provides leadership to site-based teams while serving as the primary link between project delivery and senior management.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership - Data Centre - Provide technical direction and oversight to all site-based data centre commissioning teams
- Act as senior technical authority for commissioning activities within data centres
- Set and enforce technical standards and best practice
- Lead technical discussions, troubleshooting, and system integration decisions
- Support resolution of complex commissioning and performance issues
- Work with Project Managers to define scope, milestones, and delivery strategy
- Develop and maintain regional delivery plans and resource forecasts
- Monitor project performance, risks, and constraints
- Implement corrective actions where required
- Ensure consistency of execution and reporting across all regional projects
- Lead and coordinate on-site teams across multiple locations
- Promote collaboration, safety, and professionalism
- Support mentoring and technical development
- Encourage knowledge sharing and standardisation
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and industry standards
- Review and approve commissioning plans, test scripts, and handover documentation
- Identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks
- Support audits and lessons-learned initiatives
- Act as senior operational and technical point of contact
- Manage client expectations and communication
- Ensure technical requirements are incorporated into delivery
- Support resolution of escalations and major issues
- Promote a strong safety culture across all sites
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
- Ensure risks are assessed and controlled before and during site activities
- Experience in live or operational data centre environments
- Strong technical knowledge of mission-critical data centre systems
- Electrical power distribution
- Mechanical cooling systems
- Controls and integrated systems
- Proven experience leading Level 15 commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) within Data Centres
- Strong understanding of redundancy and resilience (N, N+1, 2N)
- Ability to author and approve commissioning documentation
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary data centre teams across multiple projects
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- EN 50600, TIA-942 and Tier concepts
- Commissioning methodologies and structured testing processes
- Risk management and problem-solving frameworks
- Data centre commissioning and health & safety certifications is essential for this role, as you will be overseeing major Data Centre projects.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or related engineering discipline
- Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Project, or Operations Management - Desirable
