Overview
The Material Handler is a key contributor in the AGS Distribution Center, responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of product through our DC operations. This includes receiving inbound freight, picking and preparing outbound orders, staging product for shipment, and maintaining an organized and compliant warehouse environment.
This is a physical, fast-paced role that requires attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to doing the job right the first time. The Material Mover works as part of a team to fulfill customer orders accurately and on schedule, supporting AGS’s reputation for quality and reliability that has been built over nearly a century.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inbound
• Unload inbound shipments from trucks and trailers using manual and powered equipment.
• Verify incoming product against purchase orders, bills of lading, and packing lists; report discrepancies immediately.
• Inspect inbound freight for damage or shortage; document and escalate as required.
• Label, sort, and put away received product into designated storage locations accurately and promptly.
• Maintain receiving documentation in accordance with company procedures.
Packing & Shipping
• Pack outbound orders in accordance with product specifications, customer requirements, and carrier guidelines.
• Apply appropriate labels, documentation, and packaging materials to outbound shipments.
• Assist in loading outbound trailers and vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Verify outbound shipments against manifests or shipping documents before release.
• Support on-time shipment of all daily outbound orders.
Product Movement & Equipment Operation
• Move product safely throughout the DC using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment.
• Operate forklifts or reach trucks as certified and assigned.
• Ensure all equipment is operated in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
• Perform pre-shift equipment inspections and report any mechanical concerns to a supervisor.
• Handle all product with care to prevent damage during movement and storage.
Inventory & Organization
• Maintain accurate and organized product storage in all assigned areas of the DC.
• Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and location audits as directed.
• Replenish forward pick locations as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
• Report inventory discrepancies, damaged stock, or location errors to the supervisor or inventory team.
• Keep all work areas, aisles, and staging zones clean, clear, and clearly labeled.
Safety & Compliance
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
• Operate all material handling equipment in compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, near-misses, or accidents to a supervisor.
• Participate in safety training, inspections, and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Team Collaboration & Communication
• Work cooperatively with reviving, shipping, inventory, and transportation team members to meet daily goals
• Communicate proactively about delays, shortages, or issues that may impact outbound orders.
• Support new team members during onboarding and share knowledge willingly.

• A successful Material Mover ensures that product moves through the distribution center accurately, safely, and on time, every shift.
• Inbound freight is received, verified, and put away accurately and promptly.
• Orders are picked and packed with a high degree of accuracy, meeting established rate standards.
• Outbound shipments leave on time and complete, every day.
• The DC is organized, clean, and safe at the start and end of every shift.
• Equipment is operated safely with zero preventable incidents.
• Inventory counts are accurate and discrepancies are reported quickly.
• Your supervisor and teammates can count on you to show up and deliver, no follow-up required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a distribution center, warehouse, or fulfillment environment preferred.
• Ability to operate manual pallet jacks and hand trucks; powered equipment experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow pick lists, shipping documents, work instructions, and labels accurately.
• Basic math skills for order verification and inventory counting.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy in picking and documentation is essential in this role.
• Reliable attendance and consistent punctuality; the DC depends on every team member being present and ready.
• Ability to work at a sustained pace in a physical, fast-moving environment.
Preferred
• Forklift or reach truck certification (AGS will provide training for the right candidate).
• Experience with RF scanning, voice-pick systems, or warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Familiarity with 5S, lean warehouse principles, or DC productivity metrics.
• Prior experience in automotive parts, aftermarket distribution, or industrial product fulfillment.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain on your feet for the duration of an 8–10 hour shift.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of product up to 50 lbs; occasional team lifts above 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and stooping throughout the shift.
• Ability to operate powered industrial equipment including forklifts and reach trucks.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with variable temperatures, noise levels, and seasonal conditions.
• Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and spatial awareness in a busy DC environment.

Salary & Bonus
• Base Salary Range: $18.50– $20/hr(Range is based on experience, skills, and role alignment within the organization.)
• Bonus Eligibility:Eligible for a performance-based bonus of up to 4 -10% of base annual salary, based on individual, team, and company performance.
