About This Position
Position Title: Student Tech (Non-Certified MLT)
Position Summary: The Student Tech (ST) will perform, under the supervision of a MT/MLS, various methods of analytical testing on specimens using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods, and microscopy after completion of clinical practicums in the appropriate areas.

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Applicant will be actively enrolled in a course of study of Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology. The course study will result in either a BS or an AD respectively to become a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician. The applicant shall remain in this position until he/she passes ASCP Board Certification, when this position will be relinquished.
**it is our intent to offer this position to students from local/affiliated schools (FDTC, HGTC)
Experience:
- Must have completed at least one clinical rotation required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Must become certified as an MLT within one (1) year of employment required.
Special Skills:
- Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
- Knowledge of program development and administration preferred.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong PC skills required.
- Strong verbal communication skills required
- Under supervision of a Medical Technologist, Manager, Administrative Director performs, evaluates, and records results on specimens submitted for routine and select non-routine procedures
- Recognizes and solves problems under supervision and communicates technical concepts
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with peers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads
- Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Strong PC skills required.
- Strong verbal communication skills required.
