Summary
The Senior Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, Systems, and Security Engineer will implement, manage, and monitor servers, security, and networks in a hybrid cloud environment.
Responsibilities
- Implementation and maintenance of systems in the cloud and on prem including server installation, management, deployment, configuration of servers, databases, storage, and backup systems including deployment, configuration, and management of Windows Server operating systems with Hyper-V and cloud services.
- Implementation and maintenance of systems in the cloud and on prem including server installation, management, deployment, configuration of databases, storage, and backup systems.
- Monitor and enhance system and user security including responding to, containing, and conducting forensics on security incidents.
- Manage and monitor server environments, including Windows and Linux, including the installation and configuration of server infrastructure to support and host software applications in a hybrid environment.
- Update systems when new OS versions, security, and system patches become available.
- Project management of infrastructure projects.
- Perform light scripting/coding (e.g., automation and startup scripts).
- Administer network user permissions and troubleshoot and resolve network and server issues.
- Deploy, administer, and manage firewalls.
- Create and implement group policies, backup and restore policies.
- Manage change requests for cloud management service modifications.
- Monitor cloud resource key metrics and make recommended changes.
- Continuously optimize cloud resources to ensure the most efficient and effective use and cost of cloud services.
- Integrate new cloud systems into an existing environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational and network problems.
- Evaluate and implement new cloud computing technologies, systems, and applications.
- Perform load balancing and application scaling.
- Administer cloud storage usage, responsibilities may include backup/restore and other storage-centric duties.
- Assist with on premise to cloud migrations.
- Ensure the smooth, available, and high-performing operation of virtual machines, storage, and network configurations in both cloud and on-premises environments. Measure KPIs and report performance of this to all levels of the organization.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years in cloud system administration in AWS or Azure Cloud.
- 4+ years network management, connecting multiple remote facilities in software-defined networking and distributed architecture.
- Strong experience in PowerShell Scripting specifically with automation and startup scripts.
- Windows server deployment and administration.
- SQL Server, MySQL, or NoSQL, permissions, backups, restores, building new servers (both bare metal and virtual).
- Firewall and VPN administration and management.
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or a related field, with a strong understanding of Windows server in a virtualized environment.
- Strong experience in Windows operating systems within a Hyper-V virtualized environment.
- Strong experience in networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Demonstrated direct, hands-on proficiency with scripting or programming languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar) for automation of infrastructure tasks in a hybrid infrastructure and security environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex systems and propose and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Azure and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, ADO/Azure DevOps).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or similar.
- Relevant certifications: CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure.
- Azure, AWS, and O365.
- Cisco Meraki experience.
Location: This position can be located in our Longmont, CO office or work fully remote.
Base Compensation: $144,000 - $164,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
